Safety
READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS IN THIS MANUAL BEFORE USING
Inside you will nd many helpful hints on how to use and maintain your air conditioner properly.
A little preventive care on your part can save you a great deal of time and money over the life of
your air conditioner. The troubleshooting tips on page 31 will provide answers to many common
problems. If you review the chart rst, you may not need to call for service at all.
To prevent injury and property damage, the following instructions must be followed.
Incorrect operation due to ignoring instructions may cause harm or damage.

• Use only for the intended purpose.
• Use caution when unpacking and installing. Sharp edges could cause injury.
• Contact an authorized installer for installation of this unit if needed.
• The appliance must be installed in accordance with national wiring standards.
• This appliance is not intended for use by people (including children) with reduced physical,
sensory, or mental capabilities or with a lack of experience and knowledge, unless they are
under supervision or have been given instruction concerning the use of the appliance by a
person responsible for their safety.
• Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
• Do not store or use gasoline or other ammable/combustible vapors/liquids/materials in the
vicinity of this or any other appliance.
• Keep rearms away. They may cause a re.
• Do not direct airow directly at room occupants. This can harm their health.
• Do not operate your air conditioner in a “wet” room, such as a bathroom or laundry room.
• Do not use strong detergent, wax, water or paint thinner to clean.
• Always insert lter securely and clean lter once a month. Operating without lters may
cause the unit to fail.

Safety
• Hold the head of the power cord when unplugging it. Do not pull on the cord. It may cause
electrical shock or damage.
• Do not place heavy objects on the power cord. Make sure that the cord is not compressed.
There is danger of a re or electrical shock.
• Do not drink drained water from the unit. It contains contaminants that can make you sick.
• Before cleaning the unit, turn it and the circuit breaker o. Do not clean it while the power is
on. This may cause re, electrical shock or injury.
• Make sure there are no obstacles around air inlets or inside air outlets. This may cause unit
to fail or cause an accident.
• Ensure that the installation bracket of the outdoor part of the appliance is not damaged due
to prolonged exposure to the elements. If the bracket is damaged the unit may fall.
• Turn o the main power switch when not using the unit for an extended time. It may cause
unit failure or re.

Electrical Information
Note: The power supply cord with this air conditioner contains a current sensor designed to
reduce the risk of re. Please refer to the operation of the current sensor section for details.
In the event that the power supply cord is damaged, it cannot be repaired. It must be replaced
by a qualied technician.
• The electrical rating of your new room air conditioner is listed on the serial plate. Refer to the
rating when checking the electrical requirements.
• Be sure the air conditioner is properly grounded. To minimize shock and re hazards, proper
grounding is important. The power cord is equipped with a three-prong grounding plug for
protection against shock hazards.
• Your air conditioner must be used in a properly grounded wall outlet. If the wall outlet you
intend to use is not adequately grounded or protected by a time delay fuse or circuit breaker,
have a qualied electrician install the proper outlet. Make sure the outlet is accessible after
the unit is installed.
• Do not use an extension cord or an adapter plug with the unit.
• Do not, under any circumstances, cut or remove the third grounding prong from the
power cord plug.

• Always install the circuit breaker and a dedicated power circuit. Incorrect installation may
cause re and electrical shock.

Current sensor and disposal
The power supply cord contains a current sensor for your safety.
To test your power supply cord, do the following:
1. Plug in the air conditioner.
2. The power supply cord will have two buttons on the plug head. Press the TEST button.
You will notice a click as the RESET button pops out.
3. Press the RESET button. You will again notice a click as the button engages.
4. The power supply cord is now supplying electricity to the unit.
NOTE: Do not use the current sensor to turn the unit on or o. Always make sure the RESET
button is pushed in for correct operation.
The power cord must be replaced if it fails to reset either when the TEST button is pushed or it
cannot be reset. If the power cord is damaged, it cannot be repaired. It must be replaced by a
qualied technician.
Disposal
It is illegal to take your air conditioner to a landll with the rest of your trash.
Check with your town/state regarding the legal way to dispose of your air conditioner.

Installation
Before you begin:
Read these instructions completely and carefully.
IMPORTANT
- Save these instructions for future reference.
IMPORTANT
- Observe all appropriate codes and ordinances.
Note to installer - Be sure to leave these instructions with the customer.
Skill level - Installation of this appliance requires basic mechanical skills and the ability
to lift heavy objects.
Completion time - Approximately 1 hour.
We recommend that two people install this product together. Proper installation is the
responsibility of the installer. Product failure due to improper installation is not covered under
the warranty. You must use all supplied parts and use proper installation procedures as
described in these instructions when installing this air conditioner.
Window requirements:
Your air conditioner is designed to be installed in
standard double hung windows with openings of
23 to 36 in. wide (584 to 914mm).
Tools you will need for installation:
Phillips-head screwdriver
Level
Flat-head screwdriver
Save the carton and these installation instructions for future reference.
The carton is the best way to store the unit during winter or when not in use.

Installation
1. PREPARE THE WINDOW
The lower sash must open suciently to allow
a clear vertical opening of 13 inches (330mm).
Side vents and the rear of the AC unit must
have clear air space to allow enough airow
through the condenser for heat removal. The
rear of the unit must be outdoors, not inside
a building or garage.
2. PREPARE THE AIR CONDITIONER
A: Remove the air conditioner from the
carton and place it on a at surface.
B: Remove the top rail from the
packaging material.
C: Align the holes in the top rail with those
on the top of the unit (Fig. A).
D: Secure the top rail to the unit with the
3/8” screws (Fig. B).
NOTE: For safety reasons, all four (4) screws
MUST be used for secure fastening.

3. INSTALL THE ACCORDION PANELS
NOTE: The top rail and sliding panels at each side are
oset to provide the proper pitch to the rear of 5/16 in.
(7.9mm). This is necessary for proper condensed water
drainage. If you are not using the accordion panels for
any reason, this pitch to the rear must be maintained.
A. Place the unit on the oor, a bench or a
table. Hold the accordion panel in one hand
and gently pull the center to extend the panel
as needed (Fig. 1).
B. Slide the free end of the “ ” section of the panel Ⅰ
directly into the cabinet as shown in Fig. 2. Slide
the panel down. Be sure to leave enough space
to slip the top and bottom of the frame into the
rails on the cabinet.
C. Once the panel has been installed on the side of
the cabinet, make sure it sits securely inside the
frame channel by making slight adjustments as
needed. Slide the top and bottom ends of the
accordion frame into the top and bottom rails
of the cabinet (Fig. 3).
D. Slide the panel all the way in and repeat
on the other side (Fig. 4).
NOTE: If a storm window is blocking
the air conditioner, see Fig. 11.

4. SECURE THE ACCORDION PANELS
A. With a rm grip on the air conditioner, carefully
place the unit into the window opening so the
bottom of the air conditioner frame is against the
window sill (Fig.5). Carefully close the window
behind the top rail of the unit.
NOTE: Check that the air conditioner is tilted back
about 5/8” to 3/4” (15.8 to 19mm) downward to the
outside. With proper installation, condensation should
not drain from the overow drain hole during normal use.
If it is, increase the slope.
B. Extend the accordion panels out against the
window frame (Fig.6).
5. INSTALL THE SUPPORT BRACKET
A. Place the frame lock between the frame
extensions and the window sill as shown in
Fig.7. Drive 3/4” (19mm) or 1/2” (12.7mm)
locking screws through the frame lock and
into the sill.
B. Drive 3/4” (19mm) or 1/2” (12.7mm) locking
screws through the frame holes into the
window sash. (Fig.8).
NOTE: To prevent the window sill from splitting,
drill 1/8” (3mm) pilot holes before driving in the
screws.

Removing air conditioner from window
• Turn air conditioner o, and disconnect power cord.
• Remove sash seal from between windows and unscrew safety sash lock.
• Remove screws installed through frame and frame lock.
• Keeping a rm grip on the air conditioner, raise sash and carefully remove.
• Be careful not to spill any remaining water while lifting unit from window. Store parts
with air conditioner.
• Be sure to drain excess water from unit before storing.
Displays
Digital display shows the temperature and
the Auto timer settings. Fan Only mode
shows the room temperature. Temperatures
displayed in OF.
Error Codes:
AS - Room Temperature sensor error. Unplug
the unit and wait 3 minutes before you plug
it back in. Note: in Fan Only mode, it will
display “LO” or “HI.”
• - Evaporator temperature sensor error.
Unplug the unit and wait 3 minutes before
you plug it back in. Note: “ ” is displayed •
in the unit controls (Fig. 12).

Operating modes
To select the Operating mode:
To choose Operating mode, press button. Each time you press the button, a mode MODE MODE
is selected in a sequence that goes from Auto, Cool, Dry and Fan. The indicator light beside each
will be illuminated and remain on once the mode is selected. The unit will automatically initiate
the Energy Saver function under Cool, Dry and Auto modes.
To operate on Auto feature:
When you set the air conditioner in Auto mode, it will automatically select Cooling or Fan Only,
depending on what temperature you have selected and the room temperature.
The air conditioner will control room temperature automatically to the temperature point set by
you. In this mode, the fan speed cannot be adjusted; it starts automatically at a speed according
to the room temperature.
To operate on Fan Only:
Use this function only when Cooling is not desired, such as for room air circulation or to remove
stale air. Remember to open the vent during this function, but keep it closed during Cooling for
maximum cooling eciency. You can choose any fan speed you prefer.
During this function, the display will show the actual room temperature, not the set temperature as
in the Cooling mode. In Fan Only mode, the temperature is not adjusted.
To operate on Dry mode:
In this mode, the air conditioner will generally operate as a dehumidier. If the air conditioned
space is a closed or sealed area, some degree of cooling will occur.
Timer: Auto Start/Stop feature:
When the unit is on or o, rst press button. The indicator light will TIMER TIMER ON
illuminate. It indicates the Auto Start program is initiated.
When the time of is displayed, press the button again. The TIMER ON TIMER TIMER OFF
indicator light illuminates. This indicates the Auto Stop program is initiated.
Press or hold the or button to change the Auto time by half-hour increments, up to Up DOWN
10 hours, then at 1-hour increments, up to 24 hours. The control will count down the time
remaining until start.
The selected time will register in 5 seconds, and the system will automatically revert back to
display the previous temperature setting or room temperature when the unit is on. When the unit
is o, there is no display.
Turning the unit or at any time, or adjusting the timer setting to 0.0 will cancel the Auto ON OFF
Start/Stop timed program.

WARNING
- To reduce the risk of re, electrical shock, or injury, read the
important safety instructions before operating this appliance.
CAUTION
- Always wait 3 minutes when turning the unit o then on again, and when
changing from Cool to Fan and back to Cool. This prevents the compressor from over-
heating and the possibility of the circuit breaker tripping.
To begin operating the air conditioner, follow
these steps:
1. Set the thermostat to the coolest number.
2. Set the selector control to the highest
Cool setting.
3. Adjust the louvers for comfortable
airow by using the lever.
4. Once the room has cooled, adjust the
thermostat to the setting you nd most
comfortable.
5. Make sure that the airow inside and
outside are not obstructed. The lever
will allow you to direct the airow toward the left or right throughout the room as needed.
Move the lever from side to side until the desired left/right direction is achieved.

Additional things you should know:
Now that you are familiar with the operating procedure, here are a few more features that you
should know:
• The cooling circuit has an automatic 3-minute time delay start if the unit is turned o
and on too quickly. This prevents overheating of the compressor and possible circuit breaker
tripping. The fan will continue to run during this time.

Press ON/OFF button to turn unit on or o.
Note: The unit will automatically initiate the
Energy Saver mode under COOL, DRY
and AUTO modes.
2 MODE button
Each time you push the button, a mode is
selected in the following sequence: AUTO,
COOL, DRY and FAN.
3 ENERGY SAvER button
Press ENERGy SAvER button to initiate this function. This function is available on COOL,
DRY, AUTO modes. The fan will continue to run for 3 minutes after the compressor shuts o.
The fan then cycles on for 2 minutes, at 10-minute intervals, until the room temperature is
above the set temperature, at which time the compressor turns back on and cooling starts.
4 TEMP/TIME adjustment button
Push the button to increase the indoor temperature setting or to adjust the TIMER in a
clockwise direction. Push the button to decrease the indoor temperature setting or to
adjust the TIMER in a counter-clockwise direction. Push button together for 3
seconds to alternate the temperature display between Farenheit and Celcius.
5 SLEEP button
Press button to initiate the Sleep mode. In this mode the selected temperature will SLEEp
increase or decrease by 2 °F (1 °C) over the next 30 minutes and by another 2 °F (1 °C) after
additional 30 minutes. The new temperature will be maintained for 6 hours before it returns
to the originally selected temperature. This ends the Sleep mode and the unit will continue to
operate as originally programmed. The Sleep mode program can be canceled at any time
during operation by pressing the button again.SLEEp

6 RESET button:
When you press the recessed RESET button,
all current settings are canceled and the control
will return to the initial settings. To press RESET
button, please use a small pin or paper clip.
7 FAN button:
Used to select the fan speed - AUTO, LOW,
MED or HIGH. Each time the button is
pressed, the fan speed mode is shifted.
8 TIMER button:
This button is used to set the time ON
(start to operate) and the time OFF
(cease to operate).
9 CANCEL button:
If the TIMER OFF has been set, pressing
the CANCEL button will cancel the timer
o setting and turn on the unit.
If no Timer feature has been set, pressing the CANCEL button will do nothing.
10 CLOCK button:
Use to set the time.
11 LED button:
Pressing this button will clear the digital display in the air conditioner, press it again
to activate.
12 LOCK button:
Pressing the LOCK button will lock all current settings and the remote control will not
accept any operation except those that have been locked. Press again to cancel LOCK
mode. To press LOCK button, please use a small pin or paper clip.

Remote control indicators
Transmission indicator lights when remote control
transmits signals to the indoor unit.
Mode display shows the current operation mode,
including AUTO, COOL, DRY and FAN ONLY.
ON/OFF display will display by pressing the ON/OFF
button. Press again to remove.
Temp. display will display the temperature setting
62 - 86 oF (17 - 30 oC). When you set to FAN ONLY,
no temperature setting is displayed.
Time display indicates Timer on/o time (0-24 hours)
or clock time. The clock time is indicated only when no
AUTO-ON/OFF timer is set. When AUTO-TIMER feature
is operating, it displays the AUTO-ON/OFF time. To
check the current time, press the CLOCK button and
the time will display.
Lock display will display by pressing the LOCK button.
Press the LOCK button again to remove.
Fan speed display will display the selected fan speed.
AUTO and 3 fan speed levels:
LOW
MED
HIGH
Displays AUTO when the operating mode is either
AUTO or DRY.
Sleep display will display by pressing the SLEEP
button. Press the SLEEP button again to remove.

Setting the clock
Setting the clock
Before you start operating the air conditioner, set the
clock of the remote control using the steps below. The
clock panel on the remote control will display the time
regardless of whether the air conditioner is in use or not.
Initial setting of the clock
After batteries are inserted in the remote control, the
clock panel will display “12:00”. Press and hold the
CLOCk button for 3 seconds, the time will begin to ash.
1. TEMP/TIME adjust button: press this button to set the time.
Forward
Backward
Each time you press the button, the time moves forward or backward by one minute,
depending on which button you press. The time alters as quickly as you push the button.
Press and hold the TEMP/TIME button, the time moves forward (or backward) by 10 minute
intervals.
2. CLOCK button: when the correct time is achieved, press the CLOCK button or release the
FORWARD/BACKWARD button and wait 5 seconds. The clock time will stop ashing and
the clock will start operating.
Readjusting the clock: press the button on the remove control for about 3 seconds. CLOCk
The clock display time will start to ash. To set the new time, follow steps 1 and 2 above.
NOTE: the time of the must be set before the feature will operate. CLOCk AUTO-TIMER
If you readjust the time of the clock after setting the AUTO-ON/OFF timer, the remote control
will send the readjusted timer information to the unit.
Clock accuracy is with 15 seconds per day.
CAUTION: Static electricity or other factors (in case of extremely high voltage)
can cause remote control clock to initialize. If your remote control is initialized
(ashing 12:00), readjust the clock before you start operation.

Cool/fan mode
Start: Ensure the unit is plugged in and power is
available. The operation light on the display panel of
the unit will light up.
1. Press select button. Press to select MODE
COOL or FAN.
2. TEMP/TIME button: Set the desired tempera-
ture, typically between 62-86
oF (17-30 oC).
3. FAN SpEED button: Press to select AUTO,
LOW, MED or HIGH.
4. ON/OFF button: When the air conditioner is o,
push this button to start it. Push this button
again to stop the air conditioner.
Note: The FAN mode does not control temperature.
Therefore, perform only steps 1,3 and 4 to select this mode.
Drying operation
Start: Ensure the unit is plugged in and power is
available. The operation light on the display panel of
the unit will light up.
1. Press select button. Press to select MODE DRy.
2. TEMP/TIME button: Set the desired tempera-
ture, typically between 62-86
oF (17-30 oC).
3. ON/OFF button: When the air conditioner is o,
push this button to start it. Push this button
again to stop the air conditioner.
Note: The fan speed cannot be adjusted when the unit
is in AUTO or DRy modes.

TIMER ON: (timer start operation)
The feature is useful when you want the unit to turn TIMER ON
on automatically (for example: before you return home). The air
conditioner will automatically start operating at the set time.
Important: The time will be registered within a 3 second period
(after pressing the TEMP/TIME button), so you should continue
pressing the button until the desired time is set. Otherwise you
must repeat the steps again.
Example: To start the air conditioner in 8 hours:
1. Press the button, the light is displayed and the setting time beside is ashing. TIMER TIMER ON
2. Use the TEMP/TIME button to display “8.0” beside the display of the remote control.TIMER ON
3. Wait 3 seconds after the setting time stops ashing. The function is now activated.
TIMER OFF: The feature is useful when you want TIMER OFF
the unit to turn o automatically after you go to bed. The air
conditioner will stop automatically at the set time.
Example: To stop the air conditioner in 6 hours:
1. Press the button until the light is TIMER TIMER OFF
displayed and the setting time beside is ashing.
2. Use the TEMP/TIME button to display “6.0” beside
the display of the remote control.TIMER OFF
3. This function will be activated 3 seconds after you release the TEMP/TIME button.

Clean your air conditioner occasionally to keep it
looking new. Be sure to unplug the unit before
cleaning to prevent shock or re.
The air lter should be checked at least once a
month to see if cleaning is necessary. Trapped
particles in the lter can build up and cause an
accumulation of frost on the cooling coils.
Always contact a qualied technician to rell coolant
if needed. Do not attempt to do this yourself.
Air Filter Cleaning
• Remove the lter by sliding it out from the
right-hand side (Fig. 13).
• Wash the lter using warm water. Rinse the lter
thoroughly. Gently shake excess water from the lter.
Be sure the lter is thoroughly dry before returning it
to the unit. You can also vacuum the lter clean instead of washing it.
Note: Never use hot water to clean the air lter. Never operate the unit without the air lter.
Cabinet Cleaning
• Be sure to unplug the air conditioner to prevent shock or re. The cabinet and front
may be dusted with an oil-free cloth.
• Never use harsh cleaners, wax, polish or water on the cabinet.
• Be sure to wring excess water from the cloth before wiping around the controls.
Excess water in or around the controls may cause damage to the air conditioner.
• Plug in the air conditioner after cleaning is completed.
Winter Storage
If you plan to store the air conditioner during the winter, remove it carefully from the window
according to the installation instructions. Cover it with plastic or return it to its original carton.

Handling the remote control
Location of the remote control: Keep the remote control where
its signal can reach the receiver of the unit. A distance of 16.4 ft.
(5m) is allowed.
When you select the TIMER operation, the remote control automatically
transmits a signal to the unit at the specied time. If you keep the remote
control in a position that hinders proper signal transmission, a time lag of
up to minutes may occur.
CAUTION:
• The air conditioner will not operate if curtains, doors or other materials block
the signals from the remote control to the unit.
• Prevent any liquid from falling into the remote control. Do not expose the
remote control to direct sunlight or heat.
• If the infrared signal receiver on the unit is exposed to direct sunlight, the air
conditioner may not function properly. Use curtains to prevent the sunlight
from falling on the receiver.
• If other electrical appliances react to the remote control, either move these
appliances or consult your local dealer.
Replacing batteries
The remote control used 2 AAA batteries. Do not mix
old and new batteries. Do not mix alkaline, standard
(carbon-zinc) or rechargeable (Ni-Cad,Ni-Mh, etc.)
batteries. Do not dispose of batteries in re.
Batteries may explode or leak.
1. Slide the cover of the batter compartment o
according to the arrow direction, then replace
the old batteries with the new ones.
2. Insert the new batteries making sure that the (+)
and (-) of battery are installed correctly.
3. Reattach the cover by sliding it back into position. After
replacing the batteries, set the remote controller clock.

Unit is removing a large quantity of moisture from a humid room. This is
normal during excessively humid days.
Problem
Room Temperature sensor error. Unplug the unit and wait 3 minutes before
you plug it back in. Note: in Fan Only mode, it will display “LO” or “HI.”

LEA TODAS LAS INSTRUCCIONES DE ESTE MANUAL ANTES DE USAR
Dentro encontrará muchos consejos útiles sobre cómo usar y mantener el aire acondicionado de
forma correcta. Algo de uso preventivo de su parte puede ahorrarle una gran cantidad de tiempo
y dinero durante la vida útil del aire acondicionado. Los consejos de resolución de problemas en
la página 61 le brindarán respuestas a muchos problemas comunes. Si revisa primero la tabla,
quizás no necesite llamar al servicio técnico.
Para evitar lesiones personales y daños materiales, se deben seguir las instrucciones siguien-

do, siga estas instrucciones básicas:
• Asegúrese de que la ubicación del aire acondicionado cumpla con los requisitos eléctricos
del modelo elegido. Esta información se puede encontrar en la placa de serie ubicada en el
lado del gabinete y detrás de la parrilla.
• Si la ventana tiene tres carriles e incluye una pantalla, quite esta por completo antes de
instalarlo.
• Asegúrese de que el aire acondicionado esté instalado de forma correcta y segura de
acuerdo con las instrucciones de instalación del manual. Guarde el manual para
consultas futuras sobre cómo extraer o instalar esta unidad.

• Ventile bien la habitación cuando se lo utiliza junto con una estufa, etc.
• No limpie la unidad con agua, p35-ya que podría ingresar a la unidad y arruinar el aislamiento

Sensor de corriente y eliminación
El cable de alimentación contiene un sensor de corriente para su seguridad.
Para probar el cable de alimentación, haga lo siguiente:
1. Conecte el aire acondicionado.
2. El cable de alimentación tiene dos botones en el enchufe. Pulse el botón TEST (prueba).
Escuchará un clic y el botón RESET (reinicio) saltará.
3. Pulse el botón RESET (reinicio). Volverá a escuchar un clic cuando accione el botón.
4. El cable de alimentación p38-ya suministra electricidad a la unidad.
NOTA: No use el sensor de corriente para encender o apagar la unidad. Asegúrese de que el
botón RESET (reinicio) esté siempre pulsado para garantizar el funcionamiento correcto.
Debe reemplazar el cable de alimentación si no logra reiniciarse cuando se pulsa el botón TEST
(prueba) o si no se reinicia. Si el cable de alimentación está dañado, no lo puede reparar. Un

Eliminación
