User instructions
System information
This device is a product of the KNX system and
complies with the KNX directives. Detailed technical
knowledge obtained in KNX training courses is a
prerequisite to proper understanding.
The function of this device depends upon the
software. Detailed information on loadable software
and attainable functionality as well as the software
itself can be obtained from the manufacturer´s
product database. Planning, installation and
commissioning of the device are carried out
with the aid of KNX-certifi ed software. The latest
versions of product database and the technical
descriptions are available on our website.
Function
The eight-port universal interface, extra has
eight channels which work as inputs or outputs,
depending upon the loaded application.

Inputs
At its independent inputs, the device detects
switching states of potential-free switches/push-
buttons and transmits telegrams to the Bus KNX.
The connection of 230 V signals is not allowed.
Separately programmable for each input: Switching,
toggling, dimming (two-key principle)*, dimming
(single-key principle), Venetian blind*, dimming
value transmitter, calling lightscapes, storing
lightscapes, control, forced action.
* For dimming (two-key principle) and Venetian
blind applications, two inputs are necessary, in
each case.
Safety warnings
Attention: Electrical equipment must be
installed and tted only by qualifi ed electricians
and in observance of the applicable accident
prevention regulations.
Any non-observance of the fi tting instructions
may cause fi re or other hazards.

Control level change-over
The eight-input application offers a second "low"
control level (e. g. light for cleaning personnel).
The control level can be changed manually by a bus
telegram or in a time-controlled way.
Manual change-over to level 2:
1. Actuate inputs 1, 5 and 8 at the same time for
at least 3 s.
2. Enter a four-digit change-over sequence by
inputs 1 to 8 within 5 s.
You can switch back to level 1 by running steps 1
and 2 once more.
Outputs
The eight-port universal interface, extra receives
telegrams from the Bus KNX and triggers LEDs
though its independent outputs.
These outputs are short-circuit proof as well as
protected against overloading and polarity reversal.
Installation Instructions
To avoid disturbing EMC radiation, the input wiring
should not be laid in parallel with mains or load-
carrying lines.
Use programming key and programming LED 3 4
to program the physical address.
