IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should

always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and/or

injury to persons, including the following:

1. Read all instructions.

2. This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including

children) with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities,

or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they are closely

supervised and instructed concerning use of the appliance by a

person responsible for their safety.

3. Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or

near children. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made

by children without supervision. Children should be supervised to

ensure that they do not play with the appliance.

4. Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs. Care must

be taken, as burns can occur from touching hot parts or from

spilled, hot liquid.

5. To protect against electric shock, do not place cord, plug or

coffee maker in water or other liquid.

6. Unplug from outlet when either the coffee maker or clock is not

in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or

taking off parts and before cleaning the appliance.

7. Coffee maker must be operated on a flat surface away from the

edge of counter to prevent accidental tipping.

8. The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the

appliance manufacturer may cause injuries.

9. Do not operate any appliance with a damaged supply cord or

plug, or after the appliance malfunctions or has been dropped or

damaged in any manner. Supply cord replacement and repairs

must be conducted by the manufacturer, its service agent, or

similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard. Contact

Customer Service for information on examination, repair, or

adjustment as set forth in the Limited Warranty.

10. Do not use outdoors.

11. Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter or touch hot

surfaces, including the stove.

12. Do not place coffee maker on or near a hot gas or electric burner

or in a heated oven.

13. To disconnect coffee maker, turn controls to OFF ( ) and then

remove plug from wall outlet. To unplug, grasp the plug and pull

from the outlet. Never pull from the power cord.

14. WARNING! To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, do not

remove the bottom cover. No user-serviceable parts are inside.

Repair should be done by authorized service

personnel only.

15. Do not use appliance for other than intended use.

16. Warming plate may remain hot after the coffee maker is

turned off.

17. Use only the carafe provided with the appliance.

18. The carafe is designed for use with this coffee maker. It must

never be used on a range top or in a microwave oven.

19. Do not set hot carafe on a wet or cold surface.

20. Do not use a cracked carafe or one with a loose or weakened

handle.

21. Do not clean carafe with cleansers, steel wool pads, or other

abrasive materials.

22. Be certain carafe lid is securely in place during brew cycle and

when pouring coffee. Do not use force when placing lid on carafe.

23. Scalding may occur if the lid is lifted during the brewing cycle.

24. Do not place coffee maker in a cabinet when in use.

This warranty applies to products purchased and used in the U.S. and Canada.

This is the only express warranty for this product and is in lieu

of any other warranty or condition.

This product is warranted to be free from defects in material and workmanship

for a period of three (3) years from the date of original purchase. During this

period, your exclusive remedy is repair or replacement of this product or any

component found to be defective, at our option; however, you are responsible for

all costs associated with returning the product to us and our returning a product

or component under this warranty to you. If the product or component is no

longer available, we will replace with a similar one of equal or greater value.

This warranty does not cover glass, filters, wear from normal use, use

not in conformity with the printed directions, or damage to the product resulting

from accident, alteration, abuse, or misuse. This warranty extends only to the

original consumer purchaser or gift recipient. Keep the original sales receipt, as

proof of purchase is required to make a warranty claim. This warranty is void if

the product is used for other than single-family household use or subjected to

any voltage and waveform other than as specified on the rating label

(e.g., 120V ~ 60 Hz).

We exclude all claims for special, incidental, and consequential damages caused

by breach of express or implied warranty. All liability is limited to the amount

To Set Clock:

1. Plug in coffeemaker. Numbers on clock will flash until you set time of day.

2. To set time of day, press (hour) button to set current hour. AM or PM will H

be displayed.

3. Press M (minute) button until you reach the current time.

How to set and use automatic brew

1. Make sure clock is set for correct time of day.

2. Fill coffeemaker with desired amount of water and coffee. Place carafe with

lid on Keep-Hot Plate. Close lid.

3. While holding (program) button, press PROG H and buttons until desired M

brewing time is reached.

4. Once desired brewing time has been reached, release and current PROG

time is displayed.

5. AUTO Press to set coffeemaker to come on automatically at the desired time.

6. An illuminated green light on the button indicates that the brew cycle AUTO

will begin at the set time.

7. AUTO Press again to cancel automatic brew.

Features

Pause ’N Serve

This feature allows you to pour a cup of coffee before the entire brew cycle has

completed. By removing the carafe, the flow of coffee will temporarily stop. The

flow of coffee will resume when carafe is returned to the Keep-Hot Plate. Do not

remove carafe more than 20 seconds or brew basket may overflow.

Brew Strength Selector (on select models)

This feature allows you to control the strength/flavor of the coffee. To select from

mild to strong flavor, rotate the Brew Strength Selector Knob, located on top of

the coffeemaker, to desired strength.

Permanent Filter (on select models)

The permanent filter takes the place of disposable paper filters. Place the

permanent filter in the brew basket with the wave section facing the rear of

coffeemaker. Rinse the permanent filter in hot water before first use. Clean the

permanent filter under hot running water and let dry. Permanent filter can be

placed in top rack of automatic dishwasher.

Automatic Shutoff (on select models)

The Automatic Shutoff feature shuts off the Keep-Hot Plate two hours after brew

cycle begins. Always turn coffeemaker OFF and unplug when finished.

To maintain performance of coffeemaker, clean once a month.

To Clean the Inside of the Coffeemaker:

1. Place empty carafe on Keep-Hot Plate. Close lid.

2. Pour one pint of plain white vinegar into the reservoir.

3. Plug unit into electrical outlet and turn ON.

4. After 30 seconds turn OFF.

5. Wait 30 minutes to allow the vinegar to clean. Then turn ON again. When the

brew cycle is finished, turn OFF.

6. Empty carafe and rinse. Pour one carafe of cold tap water into the reservoir.

Place carafe on Keep-Hot Plate. Close lid.

7. Turn ON. When the brew cycle is finished, empty the carafe. Repeat this process

with one more carafe of cold tap water.

8. Turn OFF when complete.

9. Wash carafe and brew basket before making a beverage.

To Clean Carafe and Filter Basket:

Wash carafe by hand in hot, soapy water or in top rack of dishwasher. To remove

carafe lid, push hinge part of lid to one side and then gently but firmly twist lid.

The pin will release from hinge. To replace lid, put one side of lid hinge on one of

pins and then snap onto other pin.

To remove brew basket, open lid and lift straight up. Brew basket may be washed

by hand or in top rack of dishwasher.

Care and cleaning

n’est pas utilisée et avant le nettoyage. Laisser refroidir la

cafetière avant d’installer ou de retirer des pièces et avant de la

nettoyer.

7. La cafetière doit fonctionner sur une surface plane, loin du rebord

de comptoir pour éviter le basculement accidentel.

L’utilisation de tout autre accessoire contre-indiqué par le

fabricant de l’appareil peut causer des blessures.

9. Ne pas faire fonctionner un appareil électroménager avec

un cordon ou une fiche endommagée, ou lorsque l’appareil

ne fonctionne pas bien ou a été échappé ou endommagé

d’une manière quelconque. Le remplacement et la réparation

du cordon d’alimentation doivent être faits par le fabricant,

son agent de service ou toute personne qualifiée de façon à

éviter tout danger. Veuillez communiquer avec le service à la

clientèle pour obtenir de l’information concernant l’inspection,

la réparation ou le réglage, comme précisé dans la garantie

limitée.

murale. Pour débrancher, saisir la fiche et la retirer de la prise. Ne pas

tirer sur le cordon d’alimentation.

14. AVERTISSEMENT : Afin de diminuer le risque d’incendie ou de

choc électrique, n’enlever pas le couvercle du dessous. Il ne s’y

trouve aucune pièce réparable. Toute réparation ne devrait être

effectuée que par un technicien autorisé.

La plaque chauffante peut être encore chaude même si la cafetière

est éteinte.

17. Utiliser uniquement la verseuse à café fournie avec cet appareil.

La verseuse à café est conçue exclusivement pour cette cafetière. Elle

ne doit jamais être utilisée sur une table de cuisson ou dans un four à

micro-ondes.

19. Ne pas placer la verseuse à café chaude sur une surface mouillée

ou froide.

tampons métalliques ou autres matériaux abrasifs.

pendant le cycle d’infusion et au moment de verser le café. Ne pas

utiliser la force pour fixer le couvercle de la verseuse à café.

Préparation du café

Risque de brûlure.

Pour éviter le débordement de café chaud du panier-filtre :

•

Lors de l’utilisation d’un café décaféiné, ne dépasser pas les quantités

recommandées par le fabricant de café.

• Appuyer fermement sur le couvercle pour s’assurer que celui-ci est

bien fermé.

Si le panier-filtre déborde, débrancher la cafetière et laisser refroidir le

contenu du panier-filtre avant de retirer le panier-filtre.

1. Avant l’utilisation initiale, nettoyer la cafetière en suivant les étapes

de la section « Pour nettoyer l’intérieur ». Utiliser de l’eau claire

du vinaigre. Dans le cas du modèle à horloge, lire la section « Horloge

numérique »

2. Placer le panier-filtre dans le puits du panier-filtre. Insérer le

repose-pouce dans l’ouverture gauche. S’assurer que le panier-filtre

est bien en place.

3. Placer un filtre à café de type « petit gâteau » dans le panier-filtre.

Un filtre permanent peut aussi être utilisé avec ce modèle.

Pour chaque tasse de café à préparer, mettre une mesure rase (fournie

avec la cafetière) ou une cuiller à soupe rase de café dans le filtre.

5. Mettre la quantité désirée d’eau froide du robinet dans la verseuse.

Soulever le couvercle et verser l’eau de la verseuse dans le réservoir.

REMARQUE : Ne pas remplir au-delà de la marque de 12 tasses

(54 onces/3 L).

7. Placer la verseuse munie de son couvercle sur la plaque chauffante.

Appuyer fermement sur le couvercle pour s’assurer qu’il est bien fermé.

9. Pour les modèles à interrupteur : Mettre l’interrupteur à ON

(marche). Un interrupteur allumé indique que la cafetière est en

marche. Mettre l’interrupteur à OFF (arrêt) et débrancher la cafetière

après avoir terminé.

Pour les modèles à horloge : Appuyer sur ON/OFF pour la mise

en marche. Un témoin rouge allumé à la droite du bouton ON/OFF

indique que la cafetière est en marche. Appuyer de nouveau sur ON/

OFF pour éteindre la cafetière, puis la débrancher après avoir

terminé. REMARQUE : Pour les modèles à horloge, voir « Réglage et

utilisation de l’infusion automatique ».

Pour les modèles sans horloge avec arrêt automatique : Enfoncer

puis relâcher le bouton ON/OFF. Un témoin rouge allumer indique que la

cafetière est en marche. Appuyer de nouveau sur ON/OFF pour éteindre

la cafetière, puis débrancher-la après avoir terminé.

How to make coffee

Burn Hazard.

To avoid hot coffee overflowing from the filter basket:

• When using decaffeinated coffee, do not exceed the coffee

manufacturer’s recommended serving amount.

• Press firmly on lid to ensure the lid is completely closed.

If filter basket overflow occurs, unplug coffeemaker and allow coffee in filter

basket to cool before removing filter basket.

1. Before first use, clean coffeemaker by following steps listed in “To

Clean the

Inside of the Coffeemaker.” Use either clear water or vinegar.

If clock model, read

Digital Clock Timer section.

2. Place brew basket in brew basket well. Insert thumb handle in the left opening.

Ensure brew basket is fully seated.

3. Place a cupcake-style paper filter in brew basket. A permanent filter may

also be used.

4. For each cup of coffee being made, place one level scoop (provided with

coffeemaker) or one level tablespoon of coffee into filter.

5. Fill carafe with the desired amount of cold tap water.

6. Lift lid and pour water from carafe into reservoir.

NOTE: Do not fill past the 12-cup mark (54 ounces).

7. Place carafe, with carafe lid attached, on Keep-Hot Plate.

8. Close lid. Press firmly on lid to ensure that it is completely closed.

For switch models: Turn switch to ON. A lighted switch indicates

coffeemaker is on. Turn switch to OFF and unplug when finished.

For clock models: Press ON/OFF button to start. An illuminated

red light on the

ON/OFF button indicates coffeemaker is on. Press ON/OFF again to turn

off and unplug when finished.

NOTE: For clock models, see “How to set and use automatic brew.”

For nonclock models with automatic shutoff: Press and release

ON/

OFF switch.

Red light illuminates to indicate the coffeemaker is on. Press and release switch again

to turn coffeemaker off and unplug when finished.
