UFO 61
The UFO 61 a vintage ve-octave electronic organ from Italian instrument maker Viscount. Built in the 1970s, this sim-
ple synthesizer has a smooth, quaint tone with a warm, pleasantly fuzzy texture. Like many early suitcase organs and
portable synths that proliferated during the era, it has just a few core instrument voices, a single speaker, simple
rhythm box and a basic selecon of classic organ controls.
The 1970s saw an explosion of dozens of one-o and small label synthesizers coming out of southern and eastern Eu-
rope, especially in Italy. These pioneers in electronic musical instruments popularized synthesizers and brought the
sound into the mainstream through both popular music and popular television and lm soundtracks.

While that heyday ended just as quickly by the mid-1980’s with a wave of major brand consolidaon and a
collapse of the analog synth market with the arrival of cheaper and lighter digital keyboards, the golden age
of analogue synths has le us with a whole galaxy of unique and rare instruments with a soul and personality
that can’t (or won’t) be replicated any me soon in the modern digital or plugin synthesizer realm. The subtle
and not-so-subtle limitaons, aws and exploratory nature of instruments like the UFO 61 make them both
essenal and uniquely capable of capturing the aesthecs and cultural moment of the 1970s.
They’re just the cket for classic sci soundtracks, electronic music and anything that needs a hint of mellow
retro avoring. At Soundiron, we love anything rare, weird and a bit mysterious. This one checks all three
boxes.
And now, let’s just get all of the more obvious puns out of the way: UFO 61 lis o with an out-of-this-world
sound that will abduct your heart, probe the outer limits of your inner space and launch your tracks into or-
bit.
We’ve packed the GUI with lots of great sound-shaping controls that give you the exibility to warp the sound
in many ways. You have control over Volume, Aack, Release, Transient Oset, Vibrato and Octave layering.
The "Glide" control slider allows you to play legato and portamento leads. You’ll also nd an adaptable LFO
system, with selectable LFO shape, modulaon target parameter, speed, intensity, tempo-syncing and fade-in
me. You can also apply your choice of 13 low-pass, high-pass and FX lter, with assignable modulaon con-
trol opons, including velocity, mod-wheel, expression, aer-touch, key posion and step-sequencer table
control. You can also use our customizable arpeggiator, with a built-in velocity sequencer table and control
over arp direcon, note ming, swing, randomizaon and duraon.
The user interface controls are rounded out by our modular FX rack tab, with 18 dierent DSP eect modules
that you can assign in any of 10 slots, in any order you wish. You’ll nd classic phase, anger, delay, distor-
on, amp and cab simulators, compressors, EQ, rotator and more. The Reverb eect includes 119 of our own
convoluon reverb impulse response presets, for a huge variety of dierent rooms, halls, chambers, outdoor
environments and creave special eect impulses to completely transform the sound and take this classic
synth into strange new territory.
