WARRANTY CONDITIONS

Wir beglückwünschen Sie zum Kauf dieses AXTON Gehäusesub-

woofers. Lesen und befolgen Sie diese Installations- / Bedienungs-

anleitung genau, um das volle Klang- und Leistungspotential dieser

Komponente auszuschöpfen. Bewahren Sie die Bedienungsanlei-

tung für allfällige, vielleicht später auftauchende Fragen auf.

ANSCHLUSS UND PLATZIERUNG

Dieser Subwoofer ist für die Platzierung im Kofferraum entwickelt

worden, wo der Boundary Effekt der geschlossenen Fahrzeugkabine

für eine lineare Basswiedergabe mit vollem Tiefbassanteil sorgt.

Die Anschlussdose macht das Entfernen des Bassgehäuses (soll-

te das ganze Kofferraumvolumen benötigt werden) zur denkbar

einfachen Übung. Idealerweise steht das Gehäuse mit der schrä-

gen Rückwand gegen die Rücksitzbank resp. gegen die vordere

Kofferraumtrennwand.

Schliessen Sie das Lautsprecherkabel Ihres Endverstärkers an

die Anschlussklemmen im Terminal auf der Rückseite Ihres Sub-

woofers an. Die korrekte Anschlusspolarität wird weiter unten in

dieser Anleitung beschrieben.

EINSTELLUNGEN AM VERSTÄRKER

TIEFPASS FILTER

Die elektronische Aktivweiche, welche den Subwooferkanal an-

steuert sollte über eine Flankensteilheit von 12 dB/Okt. verfügen.

Stellen Sie sicher, dass die Tiefpassfunktion („LPF“ od. „Low Pass“)

an Ihrem Verstärker aktiviert ist. Für die restlichen 2 oder 4 Kanäle

die die Mittelhochtonsysteme antreiben, sollte das entsprechende

Hochpassfilter (HPF oder „High Pass“) die tiefen Frequenzen

abtrennen.

TRENNFREQUENZ

Stellen Sie die Tiefpass Trennfrequenz für die nun folgenden Einstel-

lungen auf ca. 70 bis 100 Hz ein. Die klanglich beste Trennfrequenz

muss in jedem Fahrzeug empirisch ermittelt werden.

Setzen Sie für die Einstellung der Tiefpass Trennfrequenz alle

Klangregler einschließlich der Loudness Funktion an Ihrem

Steuergerät in die Aus, Neutral oder 0-Position.

EINGANGSPEGEL AM VERSTÄRKER

Drehen Sie sämtliche Gain-Regler am Verstärker zu, resp. gegen

den Uhrzeigersinn bis zum Anschlag. Bitte beachten Sie hierzu

auch die Bedienungsanleitung des Verstärkers. Stellen Sie nun

die Lautstärke am Radio/Steuergerät auf ca. 3/4 bis 4/5 der Ge-

samtlautstärke.

Der Eingangspegelregler des Kanals (oder des Kanalpaares),

welches den Subwoofer ansteuert, sollte nun soweit aufgedreht

werden, bis sich ein Klang mit natürlichem Bassanteil einstellt.

Der Bass darf, auch bei voller Lautstärke, nicht übersteuern. Nun

dosieren Sie die restlichen Kanäle (z.B. Komposystem in Vorder-

türen) dazu, bis sich ein ausgewogener Klangeindruck einstellt.

ANSCHLUSSPOLARITÄT / AKUSTISCHE PHASE

Finden Sie nun die phasenrichtige Polung Ihres Subwoofers heraus.

Ein Subwoofer, der akustisch nicht in Phase zum Frontsystem

spielt, klingt aufgrund der entstehenden Schallauslöschungen im

gewählten Übergangsfrequenzbereich schlapp und lustlos.

Ein simples Umpolen des Lautsprecherkabels am Anschlussterminal

des Subwoofers zeigt akustisch jene Anschlusspolung auf, welche

akustisch in Phase spielt: Der Bassbereich wird lauter oder einfach

satter wiedergegeben – dies ist die richtige Anschlussvariante.

Nun folgt ein letzter Durchgang zur Feineinstellung der Basswie-

dergabe durch feine Anpassungen der Trennfrequenz und der

Eingangsemfindlichkeit am Verstärker.

Generell führt eine zu tief gewählte Trennfrequenz an Ihrer Aktiv-

weiche zu einem tiefbasslastigen drucklosen Klang, während bei

einer zu hohen Trennfrequenz die Wiedergabe zum Dröhnen neigt.

Verstärkerleistung (durchgebrannte Schwingspule) etc.

2. schädlichen Einwirkungen von übermäßiger Feuchtigkeit,

Flüssigkeiten, Hitze, Sonneneinstrahlung oder übermäßiger

Verschmutzung.

3. mechanischer Beschädigung durch Unfall, Fall oder Stoss;

Schäden durch nicht autorisierte Reparaturversuche oder nicht

durch den Hersteller ausdrücklich autorisierte Modifikationen.

Die Garantie dieses Produkts bleibt in jedem Fall auf die Reparatur bzw.

den Ersatz (Entscheidung beim Hersteller) des jeweiligen Produkts

beschränkt. Schäden durch unsachgemäße Verpackung oder Trans-

portschäden werden nicht durch diese Garantie gedeckt. Jeder über

diese Garantie-Erklärung hinausgehende Anspruch und jede Haftung

für direkte oder indirekte Folgeschäden werden ausdrücklich abgelehnt.

1. Speaker overload due to excessive or distorted amplifier power

(burned voice coil) etc.

2. Exposure to excessive humidity, fluids, heat, direct sunrays or

excessive dirt or dust.

3. Accidents or abuse, unauthorized repair attempts and modifications

not explicitly authorized by the manufacturer

This warranty is limited to the repair or the replacement of the defective

product at the manufacturer´s option and does not include any other

form of damage, whether incidential, consequential or otherwise.

This warranty will not cover any loss during transportation, transport

costs or any other damage caused by transport or shipment of the

product.

Congratulations on your purchase of this AXTON enclosure sub-

woofer system. Please read and follow the provided installation

and operating instructions carefully, to benefit from the max. sound

quality and performance this component is capable of.

CONNECTION & INSTALLATION

Your trunk box subwoofer is designed to be placed in the trunk

compartment of your car, where it uses the boundary effect for linear

output and good bass extension. The terminal binding posts allow

quick and easy installation or removal of the trunk box – should this

be necessary from time to time. Ideally, the box should be placed

with the angled backside against the rear seats or against the front

dividing wall of the trunk compartment.

Connect the speaker wire coming from the sub-amplifier to the

terminal binding post of the subwoofer system. The best connec-

tion polarity of the speaker wire connected to your subwoofer will

be adjusted in the set up process described in the next chapter.

AMPLIFIER ADJUSTMENTS

LOW PASS FILTER

Your AXTON trunk box subwoofer needs a low-pass filtered signal for

optimum results. The low pass filter slope steepness of the electronic

crossover should be at least 12 dB/oct.. Make sure that the low-

pass function of the amplifier channel(s) driving the subwoofer is

activated! Use the HPF (High Pass Filter) function of your amplifier

to cut of the low frequencies for the other channels driving the main

speakers and tweeters.

CROSSOVER FREQUENCY

A recommended starting point for the low pass cut-off frequency

is around 70 to 100 Hz and must be played by ear, i.e. is found

empirically by adjusting the frequency up and down in small steps

until the sonic result is pleasing.

The final crossover frequency and input gain adjustments on the

sub-amp should only be attempted after all tone controls such as

„treble“, „bass“ and „loudness“ have been set back to their neutral/

zero position.

AMPLIFIER INPUT GAIN

Before you proceed, please close the input gain adjustment. Please

refer also to the manual of the amplifier. Now with the music playing

at a 3/4 to 4/5 level, open the input gain of the channel(s) driving

your AXTON subwoofer, until the amount of bass is balanced with

the remaining spectrum of the music.

ACOUSTICAL IN-PHASE CONNECTION

The acoustical „in-phase“ connection of your subwoofer is critical

for best sonic results.

In-phase connection means that the corresponding acoustical

outputs of the satellite speakers in the front doors are in phase with

the output of your subwoofer, to sum up properly at the cross-over

frequency point. Out of phase connection means, the acoustical

output will cancel itself at the crossover frequency. Reversing the

polarity of the speaker cables connected to the terminal of your

subwoofer reveals the correct connection, since “in-phase” connec-

tion will give you a stronger and fuller reproduction of bass content

and the music that is played back on your sound system. Once the

correct electrical polarity is found, you need to adjust the input gain

once more, and fine tune the crossover frequency as the last step.

In general, selecting a crossover frequency too low will yield to

unprecise and infra-bass heavy sound without punch, whilst setting

the corresponding lowpass x-over point to high will render a hard

and droning sound reproduction.
