GENERAL SAFETY
DIMENSIONS & COMPONENTS
The purpose of this manual is to aid in the proper installation and operation of the Commercial Bathroom Fan (CBF). These instructions
are intended to supplement good general practices and are not intended to overwrite local codes and ordinances.
IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE PURCHASER TO ENSURE THAT THE INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE OF THIS
EQUIPMENT IS HANDLED BY QUALIFIED PERSONNEL.
Inspect all shipments carefully for damage. THE RECEIVER MUST NOTE ANY DAMAGE ON THE CARRIER’S BILL OF LADING AND
FILE A CLAIM IMMEDIATELY WITH THE FREIGHT COMPANY.
All electrical work must be done in accordance with all applicable electrical codes by a 1.
qualified electrician.
Prior to wiring, ensure the power supply is locked in the OFF position and that the motor 2.
nameplate voltage matches the supply voltage.
The CBF bath fans should be permanently connected to the power supply. These are 3.
intended for commercial indoor use.
A 1 to 10VDC potentiometer comes standard and is pre-wired into your CBF unit to control 4.
the speed and performance of the fan. WARNING: DO NOT CONNECT/WIRE THIS FAN
TO A SUBSEQUENT OR REMOTE FAN SPEED CONTROL.
Caution: For general ventilation use only. Do not use to exhaust hazardous or explosive 5.
materials or vapors.
DO NOT install the fan directly over a bathtub or shower. NOT for use in a kitchen. 6.
Caution: The fan contains rotating parts and electrical service. Appropriate safety 7.
precautions should be taken during installation, operation and maintenance. When servicing,
the fan motor may be hot. Open grill and inlet, and allow time for it to cool down.
Before starting the unit, carefully remove the grill and ensure that the wheel rotates freely. 8.
Check and tighten all screws, nuts, bolts etc. prior to fan start up as some may have loosened 9.
during shipping.
When cutting or drilling into wall or ceiling, do not damage electrical wiring and other hidden 10.
utilities.
Ducted fans must always be vented outdoors. To reduce risk of fire, use only metal ductwork. 11.
Sufficient air is needed for proper combustion and exhausting of gases through the flue 12.
(chimney) of fuel burning equipment to prevent back drafting. Follow the heating equipment
manufacturer’s guideline and safety standards such as those published by the National Fire
Protection Association (NFPA), and the American Society for Heating, Refrigeration, and Air
Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), and local code authorities.
This unit must be electrically grounded. 13.
Please follow all applicable national, state/provincial and local codes. All of them will 14.
supersede this manual.
Failure to follow the safety instructions in this manual may cause serious injury or death 15.
due to electrical shock or high speed rotating parts.
