Operating Instructions:
The model scale operates on two AA batteries, or a 9-volt power supply (part S549). The scale has an automatic BRV #
power o feature. If a battery is used, the scale will shut o after 7 minutes if no weighing operation is performed. The
Auto-o feature disabled when the power sup y is used. is pl
To install the batteries, turn the scale over, open the battery box, install two AA batteries, (observing polarity), and
close the cover. If the power supply is used, push the power supply tip into the jack opening on the side of the scale.
Make sure the power supply tip is fully seated in the jack
Turn on the scale by depressing the "on/tare" switch. The scale readout show all 8's for approximately 3 seconds will
and then display Zero. If the scale is overloaded, an “E“ will be displayed. When a product is placed on the scale
platform, the weight of the product is shown on the scale display in the units in which the scale is weighing. You can
change the weighing mode units by pressing the "Mode/Cal" button. This product can now be "tared out", i.e.
shown as zero on the scale display, by depressing the "On/Tare" button. If an additional product is then placed on the
platform, the weight of this additional product can also be "tared out" by depressing the "On/Tare" ton. This tare but
operation can be repeated up to the full capacity of the scale.
If the total product is now removed from the platform, the weight of the total product will be shown as a negative value
on the scale display. This negative value can now be removed from the display by depressing the "On/Tare" or
"Zero button. Depressing the "O' button at any time will turn the scale o. "
Key Pad Functions:
“On/Tare”- ess this key to turn scale on. Once the scale is on the same key operates the tare feature. This feature Pr
has been specically designed for weighing substances, which require a container. (Liquids, powders, etc.) Place the
container on the scale and press the “on/tare” button. The display will change and return to 0.0 “Tareand " appears
on the "LCD" in the upper left corner. Now when you add product to the scale, it will only show the weight of the
product you are adding into the container. Once you remove the container and press the “zero” key and the scale will
return to its original zero.
“Mode/Cal”- Pressing this key momentarily allows the user to change the units of measure. (“oz” ounces or “g”
grams).
Zero- Returns the display to “0.0” no matter if there is product on the scale or not.
O - Turns the scale o.

Calibration Procedure:
1) Turn the scale on and allow the unit to stabilize for fifteen seconds. Press and hold the “mode/cal” key for
about 3 seconds. The correct calibration weight will appear (2000 grams) and ash on the display.
2) With the correct calibration weight flashing press the “zero” key and the display will change to read “CAL
0”. Gently place the correct calibration weight on the platform.
3) When the calibration is complete the unit will briefly display “CAL F” and then return to the normal
weighing mode. The unit is now calibrated.
If no weight is placed on the platform the scale will return to the normal weighing mode after fifteen seconds. Note: If
"CAL E" appears, this indicates that a calibration error has occurred and the calibration process must be repeated. "CAL E"
can occur when the calibration steps are not followed in the correct order or due to the addition of an incorrect
calibration weight. "CAL E" will remain on the display until any key is pressed on the scale. The scale then returns to
the normal weighing mode, and the scale will revert to the previous calibration settings. The calibration procedure must
be repeated in order to change the scale calibration settings.
Overload When the weight limit of the scale has been exceeded the – display will show “E”.
Low battery- When the battery needs to be replaced the display will show “Lo”.
Care and Use:
Remove residues from scale exterior with moist cloth, taking care that no liquid are allowed to enter the case.
Internal moisture, use under heat lamps or use near steam tables could damage or destroy the electronic circuitry.
Using the platform as a cutting surface is also not recommended as any high impact to the underlying load cells
can reduce their accuracy and functional life. Your model BRV scale comes with a protective plastic cover
that helps keep the scale clean and extend its life. You can remove the protective plastic cover and clean it
with a moist cloth and then carefully put it back on the scale. The plastic protective cover is designed to be
replaceable, call Edlund Company, at 1-800-772-2126 for your new protective cover.
Warranty:
All Edlund products are guaranteed against defects in materials and workmanship for a period of one year from the
date of purchase, except where specifically noted. The company’s obligation under this warranty is limited to repairing
or replacing without charge any part or parts found to be defective . It is the responsibility of the under normal use
purchaser to return the entire unit to the factory, properly packed, transportation charges prepaid. No other
warranty, written or verbal, is authorized by the company. Warranty charges do not include state, federal, excise,
municipal or any other sales or use tax. All such taxes are the responsibility of the purchaser.
Edlund Company reserves the right to make changes in design and add any improvements on any product. The right is
always reserved to modify our equipment because of factors beyond our control and government regulations. Charges
to update equipment do not constitute a warranty charge.
The following are not covered under warranty:
1. Failure from neglect, abuse, careless handling or mis-application of unit.
2. Failure caused by improper maintenance.
