6. PHONES jack: Connect the headphones (stereo mini-plug) here. If you connect
the headphones to this jack, the internal speaker will be muted.
7. AUX IN jack: Used to connect this device to the analog output of audio devices
using a stereo mini-phone plug. Adjust the volume using the connected device.
8. DC 9V jack: Connect a separately-sold AC adapter here.
9. Radio power switch, LED: When the switch is moved to the ON position,
the radio turns on, and the LED lights up. When the switch is moved to the
STANDBY position, the radio turns OFF, and the LED turns o.
Inserting batteries
When using this device for the rst time, make sure to set the area seings
for the radio.
Onceyouhavemadetheseseings,theywillremaininmemoryuntilyousetthe
radioareaoncemore,evenifyoureplacethebaeries.

while holding down both the buons. and
2. Look at the chart in “Area Seing” on the cover (page 1), and use the

buons to select the numbers on the display, according to the region
where the radio will be used.

buons once more. The display blinks as shown
in “Seing the Clock and Alarm”.
Remove the baery cover located on the rear side of the unit. Insert six AA bat-
teries in the correct orientation as shown in the gure.
After baeries are inserted, the display blinks as
in section “Seing the Clock and Alarm”.
Replacing the batteries
If the display becomes dim, replace the baeries with new ones.
Thesoundmaybecomenoisyifthebaerypowerislow.
Removeexhaustedbaeriesimmediately.Otherwise,amalfunctionmayoccur,orthe
baeriesmayleakliquid.Also,removethebaeriesifyouplannottousetheamplier

Using the AC adapter (optional)
Connect the AC adapter to the DC 9V jack on the right side. If no baeries are
installed when the AC adapter is connected, the display blinks as in section
“Seing the Clock and Alarm”.

theclockandalarmaresavedwhentheACadapterisunplugged.
Setting the Clock and Alarm
The clock and alarm display the time only in the 24-hour format.
The alarm is a function that automatically turns on the radio at the specied
time. When the alarm is set, alarm mark “ ” appears in the display

Listening to a Radio Broadcast
When the radio power switch is moved to the ON position, the LED lights up,
the radio frequency appears in the display, and you can listen to the radio.
Whenusingthealarmtolistentotheradio,leavetheradiopowerswitchinthe
STANDBYposition.Iftheradioisturnedo,movethepowerswitchtotheONposi-
tion,thentotheSTANDBYposition.

and buonsforaslongasyouwishtodisplaytheclock.
Search tuning
Use the
or
buon to tune the radio.
Each time you press a buon, the AM frequency will change by 9 kHz (or 10 kHz),
or the FM frequency will change by 0.1 MHz (or 0.05 MHz).
Scan tuning
Hold down the
or
buon to tune the radio.
The frequency continues to change, then automatically stops at the frequency of
the rst radio station that is received.
Holding down the buon again will continue tuning the radio, stopping at the
frequency of the next radio station that is received.

It may not be possible to receive a radio broadcast from rooms in the center of an
apartment or building. In that case, place the radio near an opening (window or
door) facing outside as much as possible. In addition, reception may be improved
by extending the antenna and adjusting its angle for FM stations or facing the
radio toward the AM radio station.

FM
FM stations are normally received in stereo; however, if the radio waves are weak,
the station may automatically be switched to monaural, which has less noise.
