ROSA
Infinite Morpher
ROSA is a multi-mode crossfader, scanner, and switcher module designed to morph between up to four inputs and outputs.
why
To morph smoothly between multiple inputs.
To route a single input across multiple outputs.
To modulate signals dynamically with flexible scanning and control.
To switch between signals or outputs for performance variations.
with
LFOs and Envelopes: Morph modulation sources across various destinations.
Audio Sources: Transition between different oscillators, filters, or effects.
Quadraphonic Systems: Distribute signals across multiple speakers for immersive sound.
Rhythmic Triggers: Switch between trigger patterns or effects to create evolving sequences.
how
ROSA operates in three distinct modes that allow you to shape and route signals in various ways:
Scan Mode: In this mode, you can seamlessly morph between up to four inputs. The scanning
circuit moves progressively from IN1 to IN4, with the option to loop back to IN1 for continuous
transitions. By adjusting the KNEE control, you can choose whether the transitions are smooth
and gradual or sharp and instantaneous, making it perfect for creating evolving textures or
switching between sounds on the fly.
Wave Mode: In this configuration, the four VCAs operate independently. Each VCA still follows
the same control from the scanning circuit, but they are kept separate. This allows you to
modulate four different channels independently, creating complex dynamic changes in your
patch.
Pass Mode: Here, a single input is distributed across up to four outputs. If more than an input
is plugged, they will be mixed together. This is ideal for sending the same signal to multiple
destinations, like quadraphonic speaker setups or different effects chains. The transition
between outputs can be smooth or sharp, giving you full control over how the signal moves
between outputs.
The KNEE control shapes how the transitions behave in all modes, letting you switch from soft fades to
abrupt jumps, depending on your creative needs.
The SHUT input mutes all VCAs simultaneously, making it ideal for performance control or rhythmic
muting. Since the VCAs are linear, amplitude control can be gradual or instantaneous, depending on
the nature of the CV input.

INFINITE CONTROL
To ensure smooth, continuous morphing between signals, ROSA features an analogue infinite pot, which mirrors this behavior perfectly.
This allows the morphing process to loop back seamlessly - once you transition from IN1 to IN4, continuing the motion brings you back
to IN1, and vice versa. This circular scanning is particularly useful in dynamic modulation, uninterrupted, fluid transitions across to obtain
multiple sound sources or CVs.
The above diagram visually explains this concept. On the left side, a circular representation of the four inputs (I, II, III, IV) shows how
the infinite pot enables continuous, uninterrupted movement between them. As you rotate the pot, the transition moves smoothly from
one input to the next in a full cycle. This means that after fading from IN1 to IN4, the process can loop back to IN1 without any breaks.
The graph on the right side demonstrates the relationship between VCA CV and potentiometer rotation. Each sinusoidal curve represents
the crossfading between two adjacent inputs: the black curve shows how IN1 fades into IN2 (red curve), followed by the transition
from IN2 to IN3 (blue curve), and so on. As you rotate the pot, you’re effectively navigating these smooth transitions through the four
quadrants.
The dashed curve at the end of the graph indicates that after the potentiometer reaches the point where IN4 fades out, the cycle
continues back to IN1, ensuring an endless loop of morphing between inputs.
This infinite pot design is perfect for creating fluid, evolving textures, or continuously modulating between various audio or CV inputs
in a natural, uninterrupted way.
SCAN MODE
To understand how ROSA operates, let's start with "Scan
Mode" by considering a simple crossfader with two inputs.
Adjusting the crossfade parameter allows you to transition
from one input to the other, meaning you can select either
Input 1 Input 2, , or a mix of both. Typically, a mixing curve
determines how smooth the transition is between the two
signals.
This can be achieved by combining the signals from two
VCAs (Voltage Controlled Amplifiers).
The crossfade effect works by sending a control voltage (CV)
that increases or decreases to each VCA. VCA1 receives a
rising CV, while VCA2 gets a falling CV. But what if you want
to crossfade between more than two inputs? That’s exactly
what ROSA does. It crossfades between pairs of inputs in
sequence: first, crossfades into IN1 IN2. Then, IN2 becomes
the starting point for the next crossfade with IN3, and finally,
IN3 IN4 crossfades into .
The selection between inputs is handled automatically by
ROSA’s internal circuitry:
As a result, the VCAs open and close in sequence, controlled
by the scan input.
In Scan Mode, ROSA replicates the scan output across all four
outputs (OUT1, OUT2, OUT3, and OUT4), making it possible to
send the scanned signal to multiple destinations simultaneously.
