Attention! Let the vehicle sit with the key

out of the ignition for a few minutes before

removing the factory radio. When testing the

aftermarket equipment, ensure that all factory

equipment is connected before cycling the

key to ignition.

VW Data Interface 2002-2017

• Provides accessory power (12-volt 10-amp)

• Maintains the retained accessory power (R.A.P.) feature

• Provides NAV outputs (parking brake, reverse, and speed sense)

• Prewired AXSWC harness (AXSWC sold separately)

• Retains balance and fade†

• Can be used in non-ampliﬁed or ampliﬁed models

(including Fender sound systems)

• Micro-B USB updatable

• AXTO-VW1 interface • AXTO-VW1 harness

• 16-pin harness with stripped leads

† Fade not retained in Fender sound systems

CONNECTIONS TO BE MADE

From the 16-pin harness to the aftermarket radio:

• Connect the wire to the accessory wire.Red

If installing an AXSWC (sold separately), connect the wire on the AXTO-VW1 Note: Red

harness as well.

• Connect the wire to the illumination wire. (If the aftermarket radio has no Orange/White

illumination wire, tape off the wire).Orange/White

• Connect the wire to the amp turn on wire (In models with a Fender amp, this Blue/White

wire must be connected to hear sound from the factory ampliﬁer).

• Tape off and disregard the following (9) wires, they will not be used in this application

Brown White White/Black Gray/Black Green Green/Black Purple Purple/Black, , , Gray, , , , ,

The following wires are for aftermarket multimedia/navigation radios that provide these wires

(if not required, tape them off and disregard them):

• Connect the wire to the parking brake wire (if applicable and not available on Light Green

manual transmission).

• Connect the wire to the speed sense wire (if applicable).Blue/Pink

• Connect the wire to the reverse wire (if applicable).Green/Purple

From the AXTO-VW1 harness to the aftermarket radio:

• Connect the wire to the ground wire.Black

• Connect the Yellow wire to the battery wire.

• Connect the wire to the left front positive speaker output.White

• Connect the wire to the left front negative speaker output.White/Black

• Connect the wire to the right front positive speaker output.Gray

• Connect the Gray/Black wire to the right front negative speaker output.

• Connect the wire to the left rear positive speaker output.Green

• Connect the wire to the left rear negative speaker output.Green/Black

• Connect the wire to the right rear positive speaker output.Purple

• Connect the wire to the right rear negative speaker output.Purple/Black

12-pin pre-wired AXSWC harness:

• This harness is to be used along with the optional AXSWC (not included) to retain steering

wheel audio controls. If the AXSWC is not being used, disregard this harness. If it will be

used, please refer to the AXSWC instructions for radio connections and programming.

Disregard the harness that comes with the AXSWC.
