Descripon
The LM01 series is a complete laser diode module with integrated drive electronics and opcs in a simple compact package.
This low cost device is designed for experimental and evaluaon systems and for OEM use as a component in a variety of
pointer laser system.
Models
Mounng
The plain brass body should be gripped without crushing over its enre length. A split holder is ideal and provides
eecve cooling of the laser diode to maximise the operang life. The metal body should be in good thermal
contact with the mount, and should not be allowed to exceed the maximum case temperature.
Power Supplies
The laser module is designed to operate from xed regulated supply voltages of 3.0V. Althought the case is
isolated from the supply, it is advisable to ensure that neither the case nor supply is oang from ground. If this
is not done, in electrically noisy environments, interference on the supply leads could aect the output of the
module. In extreme cases, the module may be damaged, so proper aenon to supplies and grounding is
necessary. Connecons are made via a red and black ying leads. The connecons are:

The output from the laser is a continuous wave. Rapid switching of the power supply voltage is not
recommended. Internal slow start protecon is included, but may be defeated if the power supply is interrupted
rapidly.
Precauons
Do not connect the power supply leads with power applied. Do not use external laser diode controllers or power
supplies with current limit or slow start circuitry. These may prevent correct operaon of the unit and increase
the laser safety hazard.
