− When you are not using the device, cleaning it, or if a malfunction occurs, always turn off the device
and disconnect it from the power supply.
− Do not insert any objects other than paper or credit cards into the inlet.

− Place the product on a well-accessible, level, dry, heat-resistant, and sufficiently stable work surface.
Do not place the product on the edge or at the edge of the work surface.
− Never place the product near flammable materials.
− Avoid heat buildup by not placing the product directly against a wall or under hanging cabinets, etc.
− Protect the product from direct sunlight.
− Never place the product on or near hot surfaces (e.g., stove tops, heaters, etc.).
− Do not allow the power cord to come into contact with hot parts.
− Never expose the product to high temperatures (heaters, etc.).
− Do not continue to use the product if the plastic components of the device have cracks, breaks, or
have deformed. Replace damaged parts only with suitable original replacement parts.
− Use the product only at room temperature (approximately 50–77°F or 10 – 25°C).
− Never immerse the product in water for cleaning, and do not use a steam cleaner for cleaning. This
could damage the product.

− Turn off the device and disconnect the power cord from the power supply before changing
accessories or approaching parts that move during operation.
− Be careful when handling sharp edges, emptying the container, and cleaning.
− Never reach into the device or accessories with your hands or objects while it is in operation.
NOTICE RISK OF DAMAGE!
» Improper handling of the device can lead to damage.
− Turn off the device after a maximum operating time of 3 minutes and let it cool down to room
temperature before restarting it.
− Do not insert objects other than paper or credit cards into the inlet.
− Do not compress the shredded paper in the container with your hands or feet. The pressure could
damage the container.
− Always insert only one credit card into the inlet. Otherwise, the cutting mechanism may be
damaged.
− Empty the container regularly. Shredded paper or parts of credit cards can be pulled back in from the
bottom.
− Do not leave the product unattended during operation and do not engage in other activities while
it is in use.
− Household use only.
5.1
EXTENSION CORD INSTRUCTION
• a) A short power-supply cord (or short detachable power-supply cord) is provided to reduce the risks
resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord.
• b) Extension cords (or longer detachable power-supply cords) are available and are not prohibited
from being used when care is exercised in their use.
• c) When an extension cord is used:
1. The marked electrical rating of the detachable power-supply cord or extension cord shall be no less
than the marked electrical rating of the product;
2. When the product is of the grounded type, the extension cord shall be a grounding type 3-wire cord;
and
3. The longer cord shall be arranged so that it does not drape over the counter-top or tabletop where it
is capable of being tripped over, snagged, or pulled on unintentionally.
NOTICE
» Under electrostatic discharge (ESD) conditions, the product may malfunction and must be reset
by the user to recover.
Sharp edges—do not touch.
Use the credit card inlet for one card per operation only.

» Faulty electrical installation or too high mains voltage can lead to an electric shock.
− Only connect the power cord when the mains voltage of the socket matches the specifi cation on the
type plate.
− Only plug the power cord into an easily accessible outlet so that you can quickly disconnect the
power cord from the power supply in the event of a malfunction.
− Do not operate the device if it shows visible damage or if the power cord or plug is defective.
− Do not open the device, but leave repairs to professionals. Contact the service address specifi ed on
the warranty card for this. Liability and warranty claims are excluded for repairs carried out on your
own, improper connection, or incorrect operation.
− For repairs, only parts that correspond to the original device data may be used. This device contains
electrical and mechanical parts that are essential for protection against sources of danger.
− Only parts that correspond to the original specifications of the device should be used for repairs. This
product contains electrical and mechanical parts essential for protection against hazards.
− Do not operate the product with an external timer or a separate remote control system.
− Do not perform other activities on the product during operation (such as cleaning).
− Do not immerse the device, the power cord, or the plug in water or other liquids.
− Never touch the power cord with wet hands.
− Never pull the power cord out of the socket by the cable; always grasp the plug.
− Never use the power cord as a carrying handle.
− Do not place objects on the power cord.
− Keep the device and the power cord away from open fi re and hot surfaces.
− Lay out the power cord so that it does not become a tripping hazard.
− Do not kink the power cord and do not lay it over sharp edges.
− If the device's power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its customer service,
or a similarly qualifi ed person to avoid hazards.
− Never operate the device in damp rooms or at a humidity of over 75%.
− Never store or use the device in such a way that it could fall into a tub or sink. If the device has fallen
into water, do not use it.
− Never reach for the device if it has fallen into water. Disconnect the device from the power supply
immediately.
− Do not operate the device with an external timer or a separate remote control system.

CHECK THE DEVICE AND SCOPE OF DELIVERY

» Opening the packaging carelessly with a sharp knife or other pointed objects can damage the device.
− Therefore, proceed with great caution when opening.
1. Remove the device from the packaging and dispose of the packaging material and all protective fi lms.
2. Check if the delivery is complete (see the "Overview" chapter).
3. Clean the device and accessories before the fi rst use (see the "Cleaning" chapter).
4. Inspect the device and individual parts for damage. Do not operate a damaged device, and contact the manufacturer via
the service address provided on the warranty card.
