Thank you for choosing a Chord effect pedal to give your instrument a new sound dimension. Please
read below for an explanation of the controls and to get the best results from your new effect.
Each Chord 50-series effect pedal is supplied with a 9V battery, which needs to be connected to the
battery clip inside the underside battery compartment. Carefully remove the plastic cover by squeezing
its clip and levering outwards. Clip back into place once the battery is fitted.
Controls and connections are described below.
The -50 is a compressor pedal that can be set to provide clean sustain and/or control peaks in the CM
guitar signal to keep the tone clean. The main function of the compressor is to reduce gain of a loud
signal and increase the gain of a low signal. This has the effect of reducing the attack (picking) of the
guitar string(s) and then gradually increasing gain as the string sound starts to fade out, making its
sound last longer (i.e. sustain). Th more Sustain that is added can reduce the overall output and so e
the Level control allows this to be corrected or even boosted for clean solos. The Attack control slightly
delays the effect of the compressor to allow picked or strummed notes to have more peak signal at the
start of each phrase, reinstating the attack of the guitar that would otherwise be compression. lost to
Unplug the guitar input jack to preserve the battery when not in use. If the pedal is not being used for
long periods, it is advised to remove the 9V battery. Optional external power can be from a 9Vdc
adaptor, centre-negative polarity with a rating of 100mA or higher recommended.
