USING DISPOSABLE PROBE COVERS
It is recommended to use disposable thermometer tip covers in order to prevent
cross contamination. Additional probe covers can be purchased from your
MABIS dealer or with the order form below.
CHANGING THE BATTERY
The battery in your digital thermometer needs to be replaced when “ ” appears
in the lower right of the display. Replace the
battery with an LR41 alkaline or SR41 silver
oxide type. To replace the battery, remove the
battery cap (see diagram). Remove the battery
using a non-metal tool. Insert the new battery
with the positive (+) side facing up. Replace
the battery cap.

Your thermometer features a comfortable, soft, flexible tip, which conforms to the
mouth during temperature readings. It is enhanced with beeper, memory, and
fever alarm. The following instructions will cover your thermometer’s features in
further detail.
PARTS OF YOUR DIGITAL THERMOMETER
BODY TEMPERATURE
Body temperature can vary from 97oF to 99oF. The generally accepted “normal”
temperature is 98.6oF. Usually your temperature is lower in the morning than in
the afternoon. Normal temperature varies according to the location of the tem-
perature reading. While the oral temperature follows the guidelines previously
described, a rectal temperature is generally 1.0o
F higher. Conversely, an axillary
(under the arm) temperature will be 1.0oF lower.
GENERAL CARE AND USE
The thermometer should be held during use. The patient should be seated or
lying down. TEMPERATURES SHOULD ONLY BE TAKEN UNDER THE SUPER-
VISION OF AN ADULT.
You can clean your Digital Thermometer by wiping it with soap and water or 70%
Isopropyl Alcohol. THE UNIT MUST NEVER BE SUBMERSED IN ANY LIQUID OR
STERILIZED IN ANY WAY (GAS OR STEAM AUTOCLAVES). Failure to follow
these instructions will cause severe damage to your unit and void your warranty.
1. The thermometer should only be used under the supervision of an adult.
2. Do not walk, run or talk during temperature taking.
3. Clean the thermometer before and after each use.
4. Store the unit in the protective case when not in use.
5. Do not bite the thermometer tip.
6. Do not store the unit where it will be exposed to direct sunlight, dust or humidity.
Avoid extreme temperatures.
7. Dropping or subjecting your thermometer to strong shocks should be avoided.
8. Do not attempt to disassemble the unit, except to replace the battery.
9. If ERR displays and measurement is not attainable, the unit must be replaced.
NOTE: Performance of the device may be degraded if: operated outside of stated tem-
perature and humidity range; stored outside of stated temperature and humidity range;
thermometer undergoes mechanical shock (drop); patient temperature is below ambient
temperature.
OPERATING YOUR DIGITAL THERMOMETER
Press the POWER button to activate the thermometer. The digital display will
show the following and the thermometer will beep.
This is the LCD display test. This insures all parts of the display
are functioning properly.
By continuing to hold the button down, the last measured tem-
perature will be displayed until the button is released.
Once the button is released or if no reading is stored, an L with
a flashing o
F will appear in the display followed by a brief flash
of 97.7oF followed by an L with a flashing oF to
indicate that the thermometer is ready for measurement.
NOTE: If the room temperature is above 89.6oF, the room temperature will dis-
play instead of the L.
TAKING AN ORAL TEMPERATURE
Using the diagram on the right, place the thermometer tip under the tongue as
near as possible to the heat pocket. The diagram also shows the temperature
variables by not placing the tip in the heat pocket area. The temperature reading
should take approximately sixty seconds. The oF will continue to flash during the
reading of the temperature. When the peak temperature has been reached, the
oF will stop flashing and the thermometer will
sound four long beeps if the temperature is below
99.5oF. If the temperature is above 99.5oF the unit
will sound four sets of three short beeps each. To
turn the unit off, press the POWER button. The
unit will automatically power down after approxi-
mately ten minutes. The mouth mustNOTE:
remain closed during the measurement to ensure
accurate readings.
TAKING AN AXILLARY TEMPERA-
TURE (under the arm)
The thermometer tip should be placed under the arm so the tip is touching the
skin. Hold the thermometer parallel to the body and position the arm on the chest
so the thermometer tip is well covered by the arm. This ensures the thermome-
ter tip is not affected by the room air. The temperature reading should take
approximately sixty seconds. The oF will continue to flash during the reading of
the
temperature. When the peak temperature has been reached, the
oF
will stop
flashing and the thermometer will sound four long beeps if the temperature is below
99.5oF
. If the temperature is above
99.5oF
the unit will sound four sets of three short
beeps each. To turn the unit off, press the POWER button. The unit will automati-
cally power down after approximately ten minutes.
REMEMBER: Axillary temperatures are generally 1.0
o
F lower than oral readings.
TAKING A RECTAL TEMPERATURE
Rectal temperatures should only be taken when it is impossible or impractical to
take an oral or axillary temperature. THE THERMOMETER TIP SHOULD BE
INSERTED A MAXIMUM OF 1/2” INTO THE RECTUM. The temperature reading
should take approximately sixty seconds. The oF will continue to flash during the
reading of the temperature. When the peak temperature has been reached, the
oF will stop flashing and the thermometer will sound four long beeps if the tem-
perature is below 99.5oF. If the temperature is above 99.5o
F the unit will sound

from the date of purchase under normal use. This warranty applies to the original registered

The warrantor shall incur no liability under this warranty for any damage from any cause other than
inherent manufacturing defects.

CÓMO TOMAR LA TEMPERATURA RECTAL
La temperatura rectal sólo se debe tomar cuando es imposible o no es práctico
tomar la temperatura oral o en la axila. LA SONDA SE DEBE INTRODUCIR EN
EL RECTO COMO MÁXIMO UN CENTÍMETRO (1/2”). El termómetro tardará
aproximadamente 60 segundos en leer la temperatura. El símbolo oF continuará
apareciendo en forma intermitente mientras se toma la temperatura. Cuando se
ha alcanzado la temperatura máxima, el símbolo oF dejará de ser intermitente,
emitirá cuatro sonidos largos si la temperatura está abajo de 99.5oF. Si la tem-
peratura está arriba de 99.5oF, el termómetro emitirá cuatro veces una serie de
tres sonidos cortos. Para apagar la unidad, presione el botón de ENCENDIDO
(POWER). La unidad se apagará en forma automática después de unos diez
minutos. RECUERDE: La temperatura rectal por lo general es 1.0oF más alta que
la temperatura oral.
CÓMO USAR LAS CUBIERTAS DESECHABLES DEL
MEDIDOR
Se recomienda usar las cubiertas desechables para medidor incluidas aquí
para evitar la contaminación. Puede comprar más cubiertas desechables para
medidor a un Distribuidor MABIS o con el formulario de pedido adjunto.
CAMBIO DE LA BATERÍA
Cuando “ ” aparece en el visor, dabe reemplazar la batería de au termómetro
digital. Cambia la batería por otra tip LR41 o su
equivalente. Para reemplazar la batería, saque
tapa de las batería (va diagrama). Saque la
batería usando un instrumento que no sea
metálico. Introduzca la neuva batería con el
lado positive (+) hacia arribe. Vuelva colocar
la tapa de las batería.

PARTES DE SU TERMÓMETRO DIGITAL
TEMPERATURA DEL CUERPO
La temperatura del cuerpo puede variar de 97
oF a 99oF. La temperatura que gen-
eralmente se acepta como “normal” es 98.6oF. Por lo general, su temperatura es
más baja por la mañana que por la tarde. La temperatura normal varía según la
parte del cuerpo donde se toma. Aunque la temperatura oral sigue las reglas
descritas anteriormente, la temperatura rectal ge-neralmente es 1.0oF más alta. Por
el contrario, la temperatura tomada en la axila (bajo el brazo) será 1.0
oF más baja.
CUIDADO GENERAL Y USO
El termómetro se debe sujetar durante el uso. El paciente debe estar sentado o
acostado. LA TEMPERATURA SÓLO SE DEBE TOMAR BAJO LA SUPERVISIÓN
DE UN ADULTO.
Usted puede limpiar su Termómetro Digital con una tela humedecida con agua
jabonosa o alcohol isopropílico al 70%. LA UNIDAD NO DEBE SUMERGIRSE
NUNCA EN NINGÚN LÍQUIDO, NI ESTERILIZARSE EN FORMA ALGUNA (AUTO-
CLAVES DE GAS O VAPOR). No seguir estas instrucciones causará daño severo
a su unidad y anulará la garantía.
1. Siempre utilice el termómetro con la supervisión de un adulto.
2. No camine, corra o hable durante la toma de la temperatura.
3. Limpie el termómetro antes y después de cada uso.
4. Guarde la unidad en el estuche protector cuando no la utilice.
5. No muerda el medidor.
6. No exponga la unidad a la luz del sol directa, polvo o humedad. Evite las
temperaturas extremas.
7. Evite dejar caer el termómetro o los grandes golpes.
8. No intente desarmar la unidad, excepto para cambiar la batería.
9. Si aparece ERR en el visor y no se obtiene una medida, deberá reemplazar la
unidad.
NOTA: El desempeño de este dispositivo puede verse afectado si: se opera fuera de los
niveles de temperatura y humedad recomendados, si se almacena bajo niveles de
temperatura y humedad fuera de los recomendados, si el termómetro se somete a un
golpe mecánico (se lo deja caer), si la temperatura del paciente está por debajo de la
temperatura ambiente.
FUNCIONAMIENTO DE SU TERMÓMETRO DIGITAL
Oprima el botón de ENCENDIDO (POWER) para activar el
termómetro. La presentación digital mostrará lo siguiente y el termómetro emi-
tirá un sonido.
Esta es la prueba de la presentación LCD. Así se comprueba
que todas las partes de la presentación están funcionando co-
rrectamente.
Si continúa presionando el botón, aparecerá la última temper-
ature tomada hasta que suelte el botón.
Una vez que suelte el botón, o si no se guardó ninguna lectura
en la memoria, aparecerá una L con el símbolo oF titilando en
el visor seguido de un breve flash de 97.7oF y luego una L con
oF titilando para indicar que el termómetro está listo para medir
la temperatura.
La NOTA: Si la temperatura de la habitación está encima de 89.6
oF la temper-
atura de la habitación demostrará en vez del L.
CÓMO TOMAR LA TEMPERATURA ORAL
Siguiendo el diagrama que está a la derecha, coloque la punta de la sonda bajo
la lengua, lo más cerca posible del frenillo. El diagrama también muestra las
variaciones de temperatura cuando no se
coloca la punta en la parte del frenillo. El ter-
mómetro tardará aproximadamente 60 segun-
dos en leer la temperatura. El símbolo oF con-
tinuará apareciendo en forma intermitente
mientras se toma la temperatura. Cuando se
ha alcanzado la temperatura máxima, el sím-
bolo o
F dejará de ser intermitente, el ter-
mómetro emitirá cuatro sonidos largos si la
temperatura es inferior a 99.5
oF. Si la temper-
atura está arriba de 99.5oF, el termómetro emi-
tirá cuatro veces una serie de tres sonidos cor-
tos. Para apagar la unidad, presione el botón
de ENCENDIDO (POWER). La unidad se apagará en forma automática después
de unos diez minutos. NOTA: Se debe mantener cerrada la boca mientras se
toma la temperatura para asegurar lecturas exactas.
CÓMO TOMAR LA TEMPERATURA EN LA AXILA (bajo el brazo)
La sonda se debe colocar bajo el brazo de tal forma que la punta esté en con-
tacto con la piel. Sostenga el termómetro paralelo al cuerpo y coloque el brazo
sobre el pecho para que la punta de la sonda esté bien cubierta por el brazo.
Esto asegura que el aire del cuarto no afecte la sonda. El termómetro tardará
aproximadamente 60 segundos en leer la temperatura. El símbolo oF continuará
apareciendo en forma intermitente mientras se toma la temperatura. Cuando se
ha alcanzado la temperatura máxima, el símbolo oF dejará de ser intermitente, el
termómetro emitirá cuatro sonidos largos si la temperatura está abajo de 99.5
oF.
Si la temperatura está arriba de 99.5oF, el termómetro emitirá cuatro veces una
