Cleaning Instructions
Before and after each use, clean the thermometer with a soft cloth and 70% isopropyl
alcohol diluted with water, or wash with COLD soapy water. An intact unit can be
submersed in water or alcohol. However, do not soak for an extended period of time.
1. The unit must never be sterilized by boiling, gas or steam autoclaves.
2. The use of any other solution or cleaning method beyond the above mentioned
may result in reliability problems with the thermometer and void your warranty.
How to Take Your Temperature
NOTE: Measurement time may vary based on the selected site.
1. Clean and disinfect the thermometer according to the instructions provided.
2. Apply a disposable probe cover to the clean, dry thermometer.
3. Determine whether the measurement site will be oral, rectal or underarm.
Switching Dual Scale
NOTE: To change between Celsius and Fahrenheit readings, hold the POWER
button down for 2 seconds until the “Lo” with an “M” displays and changes between
° Press the POWER button again to turn the thermometer off.F and °C.
Once the desired temperature is selected, press the POWER button (the
unit will beep and the backlight will tur on for about 3 seconds) to activn ate
the thermometer. This is the LCD display test, which ensures all parts of
the display are functioning properly.
The thermometer will display the last reading taken, followed by a self-test
temperature 98.6°F(37.0°C) for about 1 second. The display will show “Lo”
with a flashing °F(°C) indicating the thermometer is ready for measurement.
NOTE: If the temperature is less than 89.6°F(32.00°C), the LCD displays
“Lo” °F(°C). If the temperature is greater than 110°F(43.00°), the LCD
displays “Hi” F°(C°).

General Care
1. The thermometer should only be used under the supervision of an adult.
2. Do not walk, run or talk during temperature taking.
3 . Clean the thermometer before and after each use.
4. Store the unit in the protectiv case when not in use.e
5. Do not bite the probe.
6. Do not store the unit where it will be exposed to direct sunlight, dust or humidity.
Avoid extreme temperatures.
7. Dropping or subjecting your thermometer to strong shocks should be avoided.
8. Do not attempt to disassemble the unit, except to replace the battery.
9. If ERR displays and measurement is not attainable, the unit must be replaced.
NOTE: Performance of the device may be degraded if: operated outside of stated
temper ange;ature and humidity r stored outside of stated temperature and humidity
range; thermometer undergoes mechanical shock (drop); patient temperature is
below ambient temperature.
Changing the Battery
The battery in your digital thermometer needs to be replaced
when the “ ” symbol appears on the top of the display. Replace
the battery with a LR1130(AG10) or equivalent.
To replace the battery,
1. Remove the battery cover from the back of the thermometer
using a coin or small tool. Twist the cover counter-clockwise
and gently pry up.
2. Carefully remove the battery and insert the new battery with
the positive (+) side facing up.
3. Replace the battery cover and match up the arrows. Using a coin or small tool,
carefully twish the cover clockwise until it stops.
NOTE: Please properly dispose of the battery away from small children and heat.
Taking an Oral Temperature
Approximate measurement time: 8-10 seconds
1. Using the diagram on the right, place the
probe tip under the tongue as near as
possible to the heat pocket. The diagram
also shows the temperature variables by
not placing the tip in the heat pocket
area.
NOTE: Drinking hot or cold fluids,
exercising, smoking or performing other
activities may raise or lower your
temperature. Therefore, it is important to
relax for approximately 5 minutes with your
mouth closed prior to taking a reading.
2. The current temperature is shown and the °F(°C) will continue to flash during the
reading.
3. When the peak temperature has been reached, the backlight will illuminate and
the °F(°C) will stop flashing. The thermometer will sound ten long beeps if the
temperature is below 100°F(37.8°C). If the temperature is above 100°F(37.8°C)
the unit will sound ten sets of three short beeps.
4. To turn the unit off, press the ON/OFF button. The unit will automatically shut off
after approximately ten minutes.
NOTE: The mouth must remain closed during the measurement for the most
accurate reading. Opening the mouth could result in an extended measurement time
and may affect the reading.

Digital Thermometer
with Flexible Tip
Thank you for purchasing a MABIS Digital Thermometer. Please read the following
instructions to achieve the most accurate temperatures and safe operation. With
proper care and use, your thermometer will provide you with years of reliable read-
ings.
Your thermometer features a comfortable, soft, flexible tip, which conforms to the
mouth during temperature readings. It is enhanced with beeper, memory and fever
alarm.The following instructions will cover your thermometer’s features in further
detail.
What is a “Normal” Temperature?
Although the generally accepted “normal” temperature reading is 98.6°F(37.0°C),
temperature readings can vary from 97°F(36.1°C) to 99°F(37.2°C) and still may be
considered “normal”. Variations in temperature can be attributed to activities such as
exercise, smoking, eating and drinking. Even time of day may influence your temper-
ature. For example, your temperature is lower in the morning than in the afternoon.
Other variations may be due to the location of the temperature reading.While the oral
temperature follows the guidelines previously described, a rectal temperature is gen-
erally 1.0°F(0.5°C) higher. Conversely, an axillary (under the arm) temperature will be
1.0 °
F(0.5°C) lower.
Features of Your Digital Thermometer
Taking an Axillary Temperature (under the arm)
Approximate measurement time: 10-20 seconds
1 . Wipe the underarm with a dry towel.
2 . Place the probe tip under the arm so the tip is touching the skin with the
thermometer perpendicular to the body.
3 . Position the arm across the chest so the probe tip is well covered by the arm. This
also ensures the probe is not affected by the room’s air.
4. When the peak temperature has been reached, the backlight will illuminate and
the °F(°C) will stop flashing. The thermometer will sound ten long beeps if the
temperature is below 100°F(37.8°C). If the temperature is above 100°F(37.8°C)
the unit will sound ten sets of three short beeps.
5. To turn the unit off, press the ON/OFF button. The unit will automatically shut off
after approximately ten minutes.
NOTE: Axillary temperatures are generally 1.0°F(0.5°C) lower than oral readings.
Taking a Rectal Temperature
Approximate measurement time: 8 seconds
NOTE: Rectal temperatures are an appropriate and reliable method for infants and
s mall children. Otherwise, this method should only be used when it is impossible or
impractical to take an oral or axillary temperature.
1 . After applying the disposable probe cover, apply a water-soluble lubricant to
the tip; do not use petroleum jelly.
2. Gently insert the probe a MAXIMUM of 1/2” into the rectum.
3. When the peak temperature has been reached, the backlight will illuminate and
the °F(°C) will stop flashing. The thermometer will sound ten long beeps if the
temperature is below 100°F(37.8°C). If the temperature is above 100°F(37.8°C)
the unit will sound ten sets of three short beeps.
4 . To turn the unit off, press the ON/OFF button. The unit will automatically power
down after approximately ten minutes.
NOTE: Rectal temperatures are generally 1.0°F(0.5°C) higher than oral readings.
Using Disposable Probe Covers
It is recommended to use the enclosed disposable probe covers to prevent cross
c ontamination. Additional probe covers can be purchased from your retailer or with
the order form provided.

MABIS Healthcare (‘MABIS’) guarantees that its MABIS Digital Thermometer will
be free from manufacturing defects under normal use for a period of one year from
the date of purchase subject to the following terms and conditions.
This warranty covers only normal use, and does not apply to use in any clinical or
commercial applications. This warranty does not cover batteries or other power
sources that may be provided with or used with the MABIS Digital Thermometer.
This warranty is voided if the MABIS Digital Thermometer product is misused or
abused in any manner.
If the MABIS Digital Thermometer fails to operate during the duration of the war-
ranty, return it postage prepaid to: MABIS Healthcare, Attn: Repair Department,
1931 Norman Drive South, Waukegan, IL 60085. MABIS will repair or replace the
defective unit at the option of MABIS Healthcare. Repair or replacement of the
defective unit, at MABIS’ option, is the sole remedy under this warranty.
ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES WHICH THE PURCHASER MAY HAVE ARE LIM-
ITED IN DURATION TO THE TIME THAT THE ORIGINAL CONSUMER PUR-
CHASER OWNS THE PRODUCT. Some states do not allow limitations or how
long an implied warranty lasts, so the above limitation may not apply to you.
This warranty constitutes MABIS’ only responsibility and obligation to repair and/or
replace materials or components, or refund the purchase price. MABIS will not
be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or puni-
tive damages or other loss, including, but not limited to, damage to or loss of
other property or equipment and personal injuries, whether to purchaser or oth-

Instrucciones de Limpieza

Cambio De Escala Dual
NOTA: Para cambiar entre lecturas Celcius y Fahrenheit, presione el botón
POWER [Encendido] durante 2 segundos hasta que en el visor se v con unae “Lo”
“M” y cambia entre ° °C. Presionar nuevamente el botón POWER paraF y
apagar el termómetro.
Una v que se seleccionó la temperatura deseada, presionar el botónez
POWER (la unidad emitirá un bip y se encenderá la luz posterior por
aproximadamente 3 segundos) para activar el termómetro. Esta es la
prueba para el visor LCD, que asegura que todas las partes del visor
están funcionando correctamente.
El termómetro mostrará la última temperatura que se tomó, seguido de

Su termómetro tiene una punta cómoda, suave y flexible que se adapta a la boca

¿Qué es Temperatura “Normal”?
Si bien la temperatura “normal” es de 98.6°F(37.0°C), las lecturas de las temperat-
uras pueden variar desde los 97°F(36.1°C) hasta los 99°F(37.2°C) y aún así con-
siderarse “normales”. Las variaciones en la temperatura pueden atribuirse a distin-
tos factores tales como hacer ejercicio, fumar, comer y beber. Aun la hora del día
puede influir en su temperatura. Por ejemplo, la temperatura es más baja por la
mañana que por la tarde. Otras variaciones pueden deberse a la ubicación de la lec-
tura de la temperatura. Mientras que la temperatura oral sigue las instrucciones
descriptas anteriormente, la temperatura rectal es generalmente 1.0°F(0.5°C) supe-

Cómo Tomar la Temperatura en la Axila (debajo del brazo)

Cuidado General

cena bajo niveles de temperatura y humedad fuera de los recomen-
dados, si el termómetro se somete a un golpe mecánico (se lo deja
caer), si la temperatura del paciente está por debajo de la temper-
atur ambiente.a
Cómo Cambiar la Batería
Deberá cambiar la batería del termómetro digital cuando los
números y el símbolo “ ” aparezca en el centro del visor.
Reemplazar la batería por una LR1130 (AG10) o equivalente
Para reemplazar la batería:
1. Quitar la cubierta de la batería en la parte posterior del termómetro utilizando
una moneda o herramienta pequeña. Girar la tapa en sentido contrario a las
agujas del reloj y levantar suavemente.2. Quite la batería utilizando una
herramienta de punta no metálica y coloque la nueva batería con el signo nega-
tivo (–) hacia lado trasero de la unidad.
3. Deslice con cuidado la tapa de la batería hasta que quede en su lugar y
asegúrese de que ésta quede bien ajustada para evitar que entre humedad en el
compartimiento.
NOTA: Deshágase de la batería de modo que quede lejos de los niños o del calor.

Cómo Tomar la Temperatura Oral
Tiempo de medición aproximado: 8-10 segundos

realizar otras actividades pueden contribuir
a que su temperatura suba o baje. Por lo
tanto, es importante descansar aproxi-
madamente 5 minutos con la boca cerrada
antes de tomarse la temperatura.
2. Aparece la temperatura actual y el sím-
bolo “°F(°C)” continuará titilando durante la lectura de la temperatura.
3. Cuando se alcanzó la temperatura pico, se enciende la luz posterior y °F (°C)
dejará de ser intermitente. El termómetro emitirá diez bips largos si la temper-
atura es inferior a 100°F (37.8°C). Si la temperatura es superior a 100°F (37.8°C)
emitirá diez veces tres bips cortos.
4. Para apagar la unidad, presione el botón de ENCENDIDO/APAGADO. La unidad
se apagará automáticamente después de transcurridos aproximadamente diez
minutos.

GARANTÍA LIMITADA VITALICIA
El garante garantiza que su Termómetro Digital estará libre de defectos de fábri-
ca en condiciones normales de uso durante el tiempo en que el comprador orig-
inal tenga el producto en su poder.
Esta garantía cubre solamente el uso normal y no cubre el uso en aplicaciones
clínicas o comerciales. Esta garantía no cubre baterías u otras fuentes de
potencia que se suministren o usen con el Termómetro Digital. Esta garantía
carece de validez si el Termómetro Digital es sometido a malos tratos o abusos
de cualquier manera.
Si el Termómetro Digital dejara de funcionar durante el tiempo en que esté en
posesión del comprador original, el mismo deberá enviarlo, con timbre pre-pago
a: Repair Department (Departamento Reparaciones), 1931 Norman Drive South,
Waukegan, IL 60085. El garante reparará o reemplazará la unidad defectuosa, a
criterio del garante. La reparación o reemplazo de la unidad defectuosa, a crite-
rio del garante, es el único recurso que ofrece esta garantía.
CUALQUIER GARANTÍA IMPLÍCITA QUE EL COMPRADOR PUEDA TENER
SE LIMITA EN DURACIÓN AL TIEMPO EN QUE EL COMPRADOR ORIGINAL
TENGA EL PRODUCTO EN SU PODER. Algunos estados no permiten limita-
ciones sobre el tiempo de duración de una garantía implícita, de manera que la
limitación citada puede no aplicarse en su caso.
Esta garantía constituye la única responsabilidad y obligación del garante de
reparar y/o cambiar materiales o componentes, o reintegrar el precio de compra.
El garante no será responsable por los daños indirectos, incidentales, espe-
ciales, consecuentes o punitivos u otras pérdidas, incluyendo sin limitación,
daños o pérdidas de otros bienes o equipos y lesiones personales, p2-ya sea al
comprador o a otros. El garante no será de ninguna manera responsable frente
al comprador por cualquier monto que supere el costo de reparación y/o cambio
de la unidad, o el precio de compra de la misma. Algunos estados no permiten
