This universal remote control is used for all the main functions of 4

TV - VCR - SAT - DVD remote controls of the makes listed at the back of the pack.

Keep your Instructions Booklet and Code Booklet for future reference.

USING THE BUTTONS AND FUNCTIONS

DVD selection key

for a DVD unit or another

unit (Decoder, Pay-TV,

Video projector, Monitor, etc.).

This button lights up whenever

you use a DVD command.

ON/OFF button for

TV - VCR - SAT and DVD.

TV selection button for

using the TV. This button

lights up whenever you

use a TV command.

Teletext buttons:

to access Teletext

to close Teletext and

return to normal viewing

Teletext page hold function

additional Teletext

function.

Confirm button.

To select the next (P+) or

previous (P-) channel or

program. These buttons

can also be used to move

up and down in the MENU.

Mute button.

TV VCR

Fastext Func.

White/Violet

Additional Func.

VCR selection button for

using the VCR.

This button lights up

whenever you use a VCR

command.

SAT selection button for

using the satellite receiver.

This button lights up

whenever you use a

receiver command.

Used to access additional

commands and to program

the remote control.

User customisation

buttons for memorising

and accessing additional

commands.

Number keys.

To access your MENU.

Move within the MENU

using the +/- and P +/-

keys or SHIFT

with +/- P +/- depending

on the model of your original

remote control.

Control the volume

using +/ -. These buttons

can also be used to move to

the right and left in the MENU.

To select an external terminal.

The functions described above are only operative

if your appliance also has them.

Read these instructions

carefully before programming

your remote control!

MAKE SEARCH PROGRAMMING MODE

1.Turn ON the appliance:

– if a VCR, insert a cassette

– if SAT, select a program

– if DVD, insert a DVD.

2.In the code book enclosed, look for the

make of your appliance and make a

note of the code indicated at the side

(e.g. Philips 001) or the code for the

make indicated by the arrow.

3.Press and release the TV - VCR - SAT -

DVD selection button for the appliance

you want to use:

– the TV button is used to search only

for the TVs of the make selected

– the VCR button is used to search only

for the VCRs of the make selected

– the SAT button is used to search only

for the SATs of the make selected

– the DVD button is used to search only

for the DVDs of the make selected.

4.Hold down the SHIFT and ON/OFF

buttons together until the TV - VCR -

SAT - DVD selection buttons

start to flash indicating that the

remote control is programming.

5.Release the buttons. Within 15

seconds, enter the make code

previously identified (e.g. 001).

The TV- VCR - SAT -DVD selection

button flashes more quickly to indicate

that the remote control is ready for the

search.

6.Point the remote control at the

appliance. Press and release one of

the most frequently used keys several

times STOPPING when the appliance

responds correctly to the command.

7.When the appliance responds

correctly, press SHIFT to confirm.

Three flashes indicate that the

operation has been completed

correctly.

Identify and make a note of the code

for the appliance which you have

searched for following the code

noting procedure (see “NOTING THE

PROGRAMMED CODE” section).

Warning: program one appliance at a time.

FITTING THE BATTERIES

Before programming and using the remote control, fit the batteries.

The remote control requires 2 new AAA/LR03 alkaline batteries.

Insert the batteries as shown.

• The batteries must be changed once a year.

• If the TV - VCR - SAT - DVD/ selection buttons start

to flash during use, this indicates that the batteries

are low and should be changed.

• When you remove the batteries, fit the new ones

within 5 minutes or you may have to reprogram your

remote control.

•Make a note of the codes for the TV - VCR - SAT -

DVD equipment on the adhesive label inside the

battery cover. This note will be handy if you have to

reprogram your control.

NOTE: THE SELECTION BUTTON

STOPS FLASHING.

The remote control leaves the

programming mode and the

TV - VCR - SAT - DVD selection

button stops flashing:

•

if no buttons are pressed for 15 seconds

•

if an invalid make code is entered

•

if the code search list is completed. In

this case, go back to point 3 or switch to

programming mode C

•

if you press the TV - VCR - SAT - DVD -

F1 - F2 - F3 - F4 buttons by mistake.

To program the Universal 4 remote

in section A , Bor C.
