Unpacking
Unpack the items. Your package should include:
One EXT1200 PoE Extender
3 x M20 waterproof cable glands
Wrench for removing/locking cable glands
Wall mounting kit
If items are missing or damaged, notify your
EtherWAN representative. Keep the carton and
packing material.

Equipment Needed
Category 5e or better cable for RJ-45 ports
PoE source for operation

Cable Gland Assembly
A B C D E
Cable glands contain the 5 parts shown above.
Twist off (E) and (A)
Remove (B) from (C)
Remove (C) from (D)
Insert cable into (A), wrap (C) around the
cable, and insert cable into (D)
Insert (C) back into (D)
Lock (A) into (D)
Lock gland into the device with (E) using the
wrench

Select a Location
Wall/Panel installations: Attach the unit on
the wall or panel using the included screws.
Identify a power source within 328 feet (100
meters).
Choose a dry area with ambient temperature
between -40 and 75ºC (-40 and 167ºF).
Keep away from heat sources, sunlight, warm
air exhausts, hot-air vents, and heaters.
Make sure there is adequate airflow.

Connect to the Ports
The EXT1200 has the following ports:
1 10/100/1000 Mbps PoE input port (802.3bt)
2 10/100/1000 Mbps PoE output ports
(1x802.3bt + 1x802.3at)
1 10/100/1000 Mbps PD port
Port 1 is a PD port that allows for up to 90W PoE
power in.
2 10/100/1000 Mbps PSE ports
Ports 2 and 3 are PSE ports that allow for up to
60W total PoE power out.

Daisy Chain (Optional)
3 additional EXT1200 units can be daisy-chained
together for a total of 4 units in succession,
providing up to 500 meters total distance.
Note: the output power at each point in the
daisy chain will vary depending on the cable
length and quality. Take care to test beforehand
to ensure sufficient power will be available for
the remote device before deploying.
Note 2: If EXT1200 is used to extend the
distance between switches, redundancy
protocols such as RSTP will be affected.
